At the end of "Police Quest 1," Sonny bleached his hair as part of a disguise that helped him get to and take down the death angel. "Police Quest 2" takes place a year later, and Sonny still hasn't changed back his hair color. He doesn't do so until "Police Quest 3. .

Jesse Bains was the death angel. In the first game, he was taken down by Sonny Bonds and a bunch of other people who helped Sonny and others get in his penthouse, shot him, and testified against him in court. In this game he breaks out of jail and his goal and to get revenge on everybody who contributed to him being in jail. Your goal is to stop him.

Answer: On the back of a business card

In "Police Quest 1" and "Police Quest 3," the locker combination is in the manual as a form of copy protection. "Police Quest 2" has a different form of copy protection and the combination is on the back of a business card in the glove box of Sonny's car.

Answer: Keith Robinson

In this game, Sonny's partner is Keith, who does very little besides smoke. Other than communicating with the police station, Keith does very little work. However, he does do the communication, and also does some important things later in the game, so he is probably the most useful partner in the "Police Quest" series.

Answer: Laura Watts

The gremlin was a person who made Sergeant John Dooley's life a living hell in "Police Quest 1" by playing pranks on him. There is talk about who it is, and some suspect it is Sonny. When you search the computer in "Police Quest 2", you learn that the gremlin was Laura Watts, Sonny's partner in the first game.

Answer: Shoot a random person

"Police Quest" is meant one of the most serious adventure game series Sierra was putting out at the time. The puzzles are meant to be based on real-life police work and real-life police work isn't a joke, or at least it shouldn't be. But there are some moments of comic relief in "Police Quest" games.

In this particular one, if you shoot a random person for no reason, you will see a newspaper page with a few different articles. The one that's obviously relevant to what you just did has the headline "Sonny Bonds Goes Berserk" and a picture of a blond Sonny Bonds sticking his tongue out.

The article on the right reads "King Near Death" and has a picture of "King Graham" and another picture of "Princess Rosella." Sierra was obviously proud of their first game to use the SCI engine, so just about all their other SCI games have Rosella or some "King's Quest 4" reference somewhere.

Answer: Two

One thing you can do at the shooting range is forget to pull your gun out of your holster before you shoot it. If you do that, Sonny will literally and figuratively shoot himself in the foot and the game will end. You have to take the gun out of the holster before you shoot it.

You also have to wear ear protectors at the shooting range. Otherwise, Sonny will go deaf and you will get a game over message in all capital letters (implying that people will have to yell at Sonny for him to hear them).

Answer: You don't have to manually drive

In "Police Quest 2," you don't have to manually make Sonny drive anywhere. You just type "drive to ..." and he will drive there. The only other "Police Quest" game where you just tell the player where to go and he drives there automatically is "Police Quest 4".

Answer: Lloyd Pratt

In the computer, you find out that Lloyd Pratt is basically a good guy, but he was once caught using drugs while on duty. If Sonny talks to him, he will take some personal vacation time to help himself get clean.

Answer: Luis Pate

Bains held a makeshift knife to Pate's throat and kidnapped him and his car. Bains widdled the knife out of a spoon he found in the jail.

Answer: Oak Tree Mall

After you're done at the jail, you may return to the police station, the only other place you'll know that you can drive to if you're new to the game. On the way, dispatch will tell you that a stolen car was located at the Oak Tree Mall, and then you should change course and go there.

At the mall you can Pate's car and some evidence. The Oak Tree Mall will become even more important in a future "Police Quest" game.

Answer: Regular bathing suit

Before going diving, you need to check the oxygen levels of each of the three oxygen tanks. Only one of them is full. If you pick the wrong one, Sonny will drown. Sonny also needs goggles and flippers because swimming isn't his strength. Lastly, he needs a scuba-diving wet suit, not a regular bathing suit.

This part of the game is optional. Sonny can stay out of the water and let the diver get the body out of there by himself. However, if you do this, you miss out on points and you also miss out on the underwater music, which is amazingly beautiful. In the intro I said that "Police Quest 2" was my favorite game in the series. The main reason for that is the music. They put together an AMAZING soundtrack for this game, even more amazing when you consider they only had 16-bit sounds to work with.

Originally, I was going to word the question "Which of the following is not something you will find UNDERWATER?" Then I realized you do find a gun in a toilet. That's technically underwater. But you don't find one in the river. You will find the knife that Bains used against Pate, you will find Pate's badge, you will find Pate's body, and you will find a few other unimportant items including a car.

Answer: Mario Gelespi

Gelespi hears a jogger telling him that she saw blood and drag marks near the river. Gelespi then asks Sonny and Keith to come down and investigate.

Answer: Cotton Cove

Jesse Bains is waiting behind a bush at Cotton Cove for a chance to shoot down Sonny. Bains will succeed unless Sonny has his gun drawn, sighted, and returns fire just in time. Also Bains needs to shoot first. If Sonny shoots first, game over. If Sonny fills the above criteria correctly, the bullet will miss, but it will be close enough to make Bains flee the scene in his stolen car. Sonny also better be careful where he stand when Bains droves off, or Bains will run him over.
