Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the 5th Rite of Rulership?

Answer: Courage

For this rite, the contestants go to Hades and get some water from the river Styx. It is unclear what direct purpose this would serve for Silmaria (the Rites of Rulership are supposed to serve the needs of the kingdom). There are a couple of other side tasks the hero does while down there that do serve a purpose for this kingdom, but it is unclear whether Logos and Minos knew it was possible to do these tasks down there.

It seems apparent that Minos didn't, or he would have told Elsa to do at least one of those things.
2. What three-headed dog guards the entrance to Hades?

Answer: Cerberus

Cerberus does not let any living people into Hades unless they fight him well enough to wear him out or unless they come up with a suitable bribe. This particular dog has strange taste in food.
3. In addition to the Styx water, the hero gets water from what river to help Erasmus and Shakra?

Answer: Lethe

The wizards of Silmaria have consumed a drugged chocolate and fallen into an unnatural deep sleep that brings no rest to the body. Julanar tells the hero that the Lethe waters can cure them, so it is up to him to get those waters. The drug does not directly kill whoever consumes it.

However, the victim must be fed food and water or he will die in his restless sleep. If the hero consumes the drugged chocolate, he will die because nobody will save him. The only one that could get the Lethe water for the hero is Elsa, and she won't find out until it's too late. You can't return to Hades after you leave.
4. The hero cannot leave Hades until he has done what?

Answer: Talked with the Guardian

It actually is possible to leave Hades without doing the other three things. You can leave Hades without the Styx water, you just have to wait until Elsa wins the Rite. If you don't get the Lethe water and give it to Salim and Julanar, you'll be forfeiting points and Erasmus and Shakra won't be in the Hall of Kings during the game ending and they will be presumed dead.

However, you don't have to save Erasmus and Shakra to win the game. You actually don't really have to deal with Cerberus at all. If you take one swing at him, he will chase you around. So you can lure him away from the entrance and then enter into Hades.

In Hades, Cerberus will continue to chase you until you go down the ledge, and then he won't chase you anymore. However, if you're a fighter or paladin, this forfeits points, and even if you aren't it's just easier to bribe him.

It is highly NOT recommended that you leave Hades without doing any of these things, but the only thing you have to do is talk with the Guardian.
5. You can bring one of two wizards back to life. Who are the two people?

Answer: Erana and Katrina

The hero can bring back either of his two romantic interests from "Quest For Glory 4". He can bring back the one who sacrificed herself for the whole world or the one who sacrificed herself specifically for the hero. They can both assist you in some ways that are mandatory to beat the game. They can also help out in different ways during the final battle. The wizard can get a spell from one of them (a different spell depending on who he saved). Lastly, depending on his character class, the hero might be able to marry one of them. You can also save neither of them and still beat the game. This makes the game move quicker, but it also puts you at a disadvantage during the final battle.

Erasmus and Shakra are not dead. They are just drugged.
6. What is the 6th rite?

Answer: Peace

For the 6th rite, the contestants must arrange a peace agreement between Silmaria and Atlantis so that it is safe to fish around Silmaria once again. They will need help from Erana or Katrina to do this.
7. Who drugged Erasmus and Shakra and attempted to drug the hero?

Answer: Dr. Pretorius and Dr. Mobius

There are a few hints for this before the hero finds out for certain. First, during the Rite of Destiny, Wolfie says that Dr. Mobius was so upset about the Rite of Destiny that he was going to do something in the next rite to even the odds. This is fulfilled at the beginning of the next rite, when both the hero and Elsa get drugged chocolates. Secondly, Ann tells the hero that a "really really big guy" brought in the chocolates. Who could that be? Well, there's a few pretty big guys in Silmaria, but the lions and centaurs certainly do not want the hero harmed. The biggest guy in Silmaria who's not a lion or centaur is Gort, and he is also the guy with the most reason to drug the hero and Elsa. Thirdly, it has been made perfectly clear that in Gloriana, scientists have no regard for magic. They believe that magic is non-existent, and anyone claiming to be a wizard is really a crook. This would explain why Erasmus and Shakra were drugged. Fourthly, Salim and Julanar will make it clear that the drug that the hero and Elsa get is the same as the drug the wizards get, implying that it came from the same source. Lastly, Salim says that he finds bits of tomato in the chocolates. Tomatos are commonly found on pizza. Who are the pizza-lovers in Gloriana (besides Cerberus)? The scientists! So, before starting the 6th rite the hero goes to Science Island and busts the scientists. Dr. Pretorious admits his guilt.

It is not Minos or Bruno. This is separate from the assassin. Minos would not have wanted Elsa drugged. Bruno would have loved to drug or kill Elsa, but he was working for Minos so he couldn't.
8. Who tells the hero where Atlantis is?

Answer: Famous Adventurer

The Famous Adventurer tells the hero that Atlantis is right in the middle of Skyros. He also lets the hero in on a few secrets about Atlantis that the hero can use if he's a thief.
9. Before going to Atlantis, where must the hero go first if he rescued anyone from Hades?

Answer: Lymnos or Zante

If the hero brings back to life a woman from Hades, he must visit the island where she tells him to meet her so he can get the Water-Breathing Amulet. If the hero rescued Erana, he must visit Lymnos. If the hero rescued Katrina he must go to Zante. If he didn't rescue a woman he can go straight to Atlantis.
10. What does the hero learn from Hippolyta?

Answer: Silmaria started the war

The Queen of Atlantis says that ships bearing the flag of Silmaria invaded Atlantis and killed their people. This is why the Tritons attack all boats that swim near their waters. It as soon after revealed that Minos caused this.
11. When the 6th rite ends, what does the hero learn about Dr. Pretorious and Dr. Mobius?

Answer: They are the same person

At the end of the Rite of Peace, the hero witnesses the trial of Dr. Pretorious, who is on trial for the crimes he hero discovered that he was doing. Dr. Pretorious admits his guilt, and then Logos has him arrested and disqualifies Gort from the Rites of Rulership. Dr. Pretorious gets upset and then he morphs into Dr. Mobius.

It seems this character is Gloriana's version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
12. What is the 7th and final rite?

Answer: Justice

The final Rite of Rulership is the one that is the most critical to Silmaria. Contestants must stop the assassin and then capture the one who hired the assassin and the mercenaries and started the war with the tritons. The hero must make both the assassin and the one who hired him pay for their crimes.
13. How many people fight the dragon?

Answer: Depends on who you freed from Hades

If you freed Katrina from Hades, five people will fight the dragon. Otherwise, four people will fight the dragon. Plus, Katrina has frost bite and dragon frost bite spells, making her your most powerful offensive ally. Hence, even though Erana is more deserving of a second chance at life, you will be better off if you free Katrina. Erana can heal you and others but by this point in the game you should have way more healing pills and potions than you need, so Erana's healing spells are not necessary.
14. Who can sacrifice themselves, assuming you don't use Thermonuclear Blast?

Answer: Anyone except Katrina and Elsa

The Sybil says that someone has to sacrifice himself or herself before the dragon can be defeated. That someone can be anyone except Katrina and Elsa. They are both basically good people, but neither of them is unselfish enough to sacrifice herself. Katrina would sacrifice herself for you, but she would not sacrifice her life for you. In other words, it may seem strange that Katrina does not sacrifice herself in this game considering she does sacrifice herself in "Quest For Glory 4". However, in "Quest For Glory 4" she was a vampire. This means that she had no life to sacrifice, just her vampire existence. Now that she has a life, she will not give it up. However, you would not want Katrina to sacrifice herself because she is your most powerful ally in this fight. You wouldn't want Elsa to sacrifice herself either because she is your 2nd most powerful ally.

"Erana, Toro, and Gort" is a wrong answer because the hero can also sacrifice himself. If he tells everyone he is going to sacrifice himself, he will. This gives you the standard death screen but you die with the knowledge of having saved Silmaria. It's the most noble way to die that you'll ever find in a game.
15. Do you get as many points for refusing the throne as you get for accepting it?

Answer: Yes

You will get the same number of points regardless of whether you accept or decline the throne. If you decline the throne, Logos will ask you to provide a short reason, and then Elsa will become king. In fact, if you're a paladin, you get extra points for refusing the throne and explaining the way of the paladin. Rakeesh, if he's still alive, will be proud of you if you do this.

In addition, if you're a thief and you promised to run a task for somebody but you didn't do it, it's a good idea to refuse the throne unless you want to see the bad ending. No one wants a known thief as a king, and someone will rat you out if you don't give that someone what he wants before you accept the throne.
