Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Arriving in Raseir, you will find that almost the entire city has been blocked off. There are no businesses, and on the streets you will see no one but the well-armed guards. There's only one place of any interest here, and that's the inn. What is the name of the inn?

Answer: The Blue Parrot

The Blue Parrot is as run-down as the rest of the town, and don't even ask about the room they'll offer you. Here you will meet a shady character called Signor Ferrari, who'll give you a few "tips" on how to behave under the strict rules, and why you shouldn't try to change the way things are in Raseir.

He's comfortable with how things are of course, as his dealings are much less than honest. But hey, sadly for him, you've come all this way to make a change, right?
2. Ugarte, one of Ferrari's men, will be arrested for smuggling on the morning after your arrival. What does Ugarte's smuggle?

Answer: Water

The fountain of Shapeir is its heart and source - no great city could thrive without it. Raseir used to be Shapeir's sister city, but now Raseir's fountain has run dry, and life within it has certainly withered away. The Emir's men sell water to the Blue Parrot Inn, but it is extremely expensive. Ugarte's prices are a bit cheaper, but not by much.

Khaveen, captain of the Raseirian guard, knows about Ugarte's operation. He's only arresting Ugarte now as a show of force to try and discourage you from any attempts to meddle in the affairs of Raseir's new master.
3. After the arrest, a strange woman will lead you to Zayisha, the Emir's daughter. She is desperate to leave the city, and will ask you for help. She wants to escape because she's being forced to marry against her wishes. Who is the intended husband in this twisted matrimony?

Answer: Khaveen

Khaveen is the ruthless captain of the guard. In Zayisha's words, he has once invited the Emir and his family, including her, to watch a torture session. She says he now gives her the same grin that she saw on his face that day. He may seem evil to you, but there's an even greater evil lurking in Raseir. For Khaveen is not the master of the city, nor is the new Emir.
4. As reward for helping Zayisha escape, you will receive a mirror. What is the special property of this mirror?

Answer: None of these

It's just a plain mirror, but it will certainly come in handy later. Not every reward in "Quest for Glory" has to be magical, you know. Some items are so simple they might be overlooked by mistake. But a mundane item can usually save your life, and this mirror certainly will help you finish your quest!
5. You'll be arrested and taken to the palace dungeons. You are not the only prisoner here - you'll meet Sharaf, a Katta resident of Raseir. He is related to Shema, of the Katta's Tail Inn in Shapeir. What is the relationship between Shema and Sharaf?

Answer: Cousins

Paying close attention to details helps - conversations with characters aren't just for flavour, they can offer a lot of information that may come in handy much later (not just for solving pesky quizzes like this one!). In fact, if you listen to Shema's story about Sharaf, and question her about it, later mentioning her name can convince Sharaf that you are his friend. Of course, if you have the Sapphire Pin, you don't need that information.

But it's just an example of how actually paying attention can help overcome difficulties in this game!
6. Charmed by Ad Avis, he whisks you off to help him open an ancient door. An ancient prophecy foretells that this door can only be opened one thousand and one years after it was built, but only when two constellations rise in the night sky. Which two constellations are they?

Answer: Scorpion and Dragon

The prophecy foretells that a hero will come and enter through the door when the constellations are in the sky, but also when the moon shines upon the door. But the moon is in the sky behind the door... so you will simply have to move the moon!
7. In the chamber of elements, you will once again face the four elemental powers of Earth, Air, Water and Fire. To pass through each room, you will have to find the proper way to use three different elementals you've captured in Shapeir.

Answer: False

Since you've already used the Earth and Air elementals in your quest, you only have two elementals left. Still, you will only need the fire elemental (trapped in the brass lamp), and only for some light to see in the darkness of the cavern. Actually, most of the puzzles in the elemental chambers are skill-based rather than item-based. That means, each character type will likely go through the chambers in a different manner. If you're a fighter, prepare to take some serious damage here!
8. A door in the chamber will bar you from going further. To go through, you must answer this riddle: What is the Name of Power?

Answer: Suleiman

The Sultan Suleiman built this chamber to hold a dangerous demon, the greatest and most powerful of all djinni, known as Iblis. If you were not under Ad Avis' control, you would probably not be here disturbing the tomb. However, Ad Avis' spell forces you to believe his story - that the two of you are trying to get Iblis' help to save Raseir. Nothing could be further from the truth!
9. In the true version of the prophecy, who is "He who Waits Behind"?

Answer: None of these

This is the Genie who was charged by Suleiman to protect Iblis' tomb. He waits inside a magic ring, and his task would be to stop anyone from taking the statue of Iblis and releasing the demon. Of course, he's failed. But he's still a Genie, and as such can offer some very valuable assistance.
10. Trapped inside the tomb, you will find a Genie that will grant you three wishes (imagine that...). Which of the following is NOT one of the things you can ask for?

Answer: An endless sack of gold

You'll need to save one wish for the teleportation, otherwise you'll be stuck in the tomb forever! Of course, if you're smart you'll still have lots of healing pills with you, so you wouldn't need to be healed. Which leaves two wishes you can use to boost up your attributes. +50 is a LOT, and you can boost a skill over 200 points this way (200 is the "normal" maximum). Choose wisely, especially if you want to import your character into the next game in the series.

Invest in the attributes you use best, or alternately to boost an attribute you haven't had the chance to improve as much as you wanted.
11. At the final showdown with Ad Avis, you will have to quickly knock down one of the lit candles, before Ad Avis can complete the ritual of release.

Answer: False

You have to knock down an UNLIT candle. The lit ones cannot be moved at all. Knocking down an unlit candle will disrupt the ritual long enough to distract Ad Avis' attention towards you. Of course, now he'll be trying to kill you, which isn't very pleasant... but at least he's not busy releasing a gigantic malevolent demon on the world!
12. What is Ad Avis' weakness?

Answer: Fire

No matter which character class you're playing, your last action will require you to put some flames into contact with Ad Avis. Of course, each of the characters will do so in a completely different manner, but everything revolves around that brazier Ad Avis keeps next to him.

Heh, funny, if fire is his weakness, why does he keep all those burning candles and burning incense, and casts burning rings of fire? Wizards are strange.
13. Of the elementals you've captured in Shapeir, one has yet to be used. You will use it at the very end of the game, to bring life back to the city of Raseir. Which elemental is it?

Answer: Water Elemental

The Earth Elemental was given as a gift to Julanar. The Air Elemental was used to capture the Water Elemental. The Fire Elemental was used for light in Iblis' Tomb. That leaves just one - the Water Elemental, which will restore the waterflow to Raseir's fountain. The change is spectacular - it gives the entire town a new paint-job! How odd.
14. At the endgame ceremony, each of the people you've helped during the game will come to speak of your deeds. If you have been honorable and just, there's a good chance that you will be offered the title of Paladin. Can all three character types attain Paladinhood?

Answer: Yes

Yes, it is possible for any of the three characters types to achieve this. Paladinhood is a complete transformation however, and subsequent games will treat you more like a fighter than any of the other classes (in terms of the quest solutions presented to you, mostly). Additionally, fighters benefit the most from Paladinhood, as it gives them the ability to cast protective spells without interrupting their particular manner of puzzle-solving (through brute force, usually). Thieves will find it hardest to reach Paladinhood, as it means they should completely avoid all manners of dishonest activity, which is pretty much everything a thief likes to do. Still, it's possible.
15. What is the new title you will receive for completing the game?

Answer: Son of the Sultan

The Sultan Harun Al-Rashid (May his name last forever!) will take you as his son. This is apparently the greatest honor he could bestow on you, and you'll be boasting about it for at least two more games in the series ;) .
