Question 1 of 15
1. Given what various words such as "zombie", "undead" and "zombie apocalypse" have come to mean to us from a cultural perspective, it would stand to reason that zombies have acquired all sorts of nicknames over their long existence. Indeed, the "Rebuild" series does not refer to these walking dead as zombies, but rather, something else. What do all three of the games refer to them as? Hint

Question 2 of 15
2. Watch duty, or overnight defense, has always been an important factor to consider in this series. What is one key unique element about "Rebuild 1" that made it significantly harder to adequately defend your base overnight when compared to future renditions of the game? Hint

Question 3 of 15
3. Unique to "Rebuild 1" in addition to watch duty mechanics were apartment mechanics, and how you were able to house survivors. What is the primary difference between "Rebuild 1" and the other two iterations of the game? Hint

4. In "Rebuild 1", is there any significant difference, in terms of mechanics of the game, between the bars and churches?

Question 5 of 15
5. Is there a significant difference between how your community in each game reacts to Big or Evil Graveyards?

Question 6 of 15
6. Looking a bit closer at "Rebuild 2", one of the most noticeable changes of the game was the addition of more useless buildings that the player could potentially take advantage of. Which of the following is an example of a useless piece of land? Hint

Question 7 of 15
7. In "Rebuild 2", it isn't long before a third party makes its presence known to your community. You already had to worry about the Zed, but now the feared Last Judgment Gang has shown up to terrorize you. If your defenses aren't particularly sturdy when they show up, they can and will rob you of your resources, and possibly of your land. However, you are not alone against the LJG, and there is a binary opposition to them. What is this group's name? Hint

Question 8 of 15

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Zed

The term "zed" is of the British tongue, as it is meant to be named after the British pronunciation of the letter Z itself. This is not the first instance of the dead being referred to as Zed, but it is arguably the most prominent example of such a reference.
2. Watch duty, or overnight defense, has always been an important factor to consider in this series. What is one key unique element about "Rebuild 1" that made it significantly harder to adequately defend your base overnight when compared to future renditions of the game?

Answer: In "Rebuild 1" you had to manually assign survivors to take watch duty

In "Rebuild 2" and "Rebuild 3", any survivors who were left idle at the end of the day would be automatically tasked to defend your base. In "Rebuild" however, any survivors left idle would simply do nothing. If you leave everyone idle and do not assign anyone to watch duty, one survivor at random is chosen if/when a zombie horde attacks. If your survivor fails to defend your base, you suffer massive land loss, and the survivor themselves will also be killed.

In the early going of the game, one survivor can most likely get the job done, but as you progress, it becomes highly recommended to assign at least a handful of survivors, soldiers ideally, to do watch duty.
3. Unique to "Rebuild 1" in addition to watch duty mechanics were apartment mechanics, and how you were able to house survivors. What is the primary difference between "Rebuild 1" and the other two iterations of the game?

Answer: Apartments provide less housing spaces as the difficulty of the game rises

In the "Easy" mode, apartments are able to house fourteen survivors, a fairly hefty sum. Even in "Nightmare" mode, this number is still a fairly lofty eight. These numbers got nerfed heavily in the transition to "Rebuild 2" as from this game on, all apartments began to house only two survivors regardless of the difficulty.
4. In "Rebuild 1", is there any significant difference, in terms of mechanics of the game, between the bars and churches?

Answer: No

In "Rebuild 1" these buildings boosted the base happiness by 5%, and with their respective parties, could gather anywhere between ten and twenty percent happiness. In "Rebuild 2", however, if you made enough wrong decisions, churches could bring about your community's doom via the Church of the Chosen Ones.

The Church of the Chosen Ones and their radical suicide rituals will, if you allow it, eventually persuade every single one of your survivors to kill themselves, as they buy into, and subsequently practice, these rituals. Bars, on the other hand, retain their function consistently throughout the three versions of "Rebuild."
5. Is there a significant difference between how your community in each game reacts to Big or Evil Graveyards?

Answer: Yes

In "Rebuild 1", one of the end game missions that can help you win the game involves killing zombies on the infamous Evil Graveyard and sealing the portals with which they use to spawn through. Through this mission, you can stop zombies from spawning anywhere else on the map, which reduces danger outside of your walls significantly and greatly lessens the frequency of zombie hordes.

In "Rebuild 2", more often than not Big Graveyards are just a massive waste of space, and play no significant role in the story.

However, if you allowed the Church of the Chosen Ones to form, they may decide to convert the Big Graveyard into a church. Outside of this, you cannot interact with it, as your survivors will refuse to be assigned to convert this land into anything, and will avoid it at all costs. Finally, in "Rebuild 3", there weren't any Big or Evil Graveyards at all.
6. Looking a bit closer at "Rebuild 2", one of the most noticeable changes of the game was the addition of more useless buildings that the player could potentially take advantage of. Depending on the useless building, the player could convert the land to be useful, as they could convert such land into farms, suburbs, apartments, and more. Which of the following is an example of a useless piece of land?

Answer: Drive Thru

Drive Thrus can be converted into either farms of suburbs. Amongst the information about this land is that the drive thru happened to be showing "Dawn of the Dead" before actual zombies showed up and slaughtered the moviegoers. Graveyards cannot be manually touched, though they can be converted into churches by the Church of the Chosen Ones. McDoodles, a parody version of the popular fast food chain McDonalds, are another example of a useless piece of land.

These can be converted into hospitals, apartments, laboratories, or schools.

Answer: The Granville Riffs

The Granville Riffs are the only faction in town capable of matching the absolutely fearful talents and skills that the LJG bring to the table. However, the Riffs themselves cannot eliminate the LJG. One of the end game missions is to, with or without the Riffs, go to war with the LJG. Of course, this mission is made exponentially easier with the Riffs' help, so it is highly recommended you accept it when offered.

In addition to vanquishing this ruthless gang, the Riffs can also kill Zed outside your walls and trade you food in exchange for useless trinkets you probably didn't even know you had.
8. With regards to the transition from "Rebuild 2" to "Rebuild 3", your interactions with the Last Judgment Gang can, depending on player choice, change dramatically. How is this?

Answer: You can now ally yourself with the LJG

"Rebuild 3" provided many revolutionary changes from its predecessor, the most notable being the expansion of flexibility within player choices. As such, it is possible to ally yourself with the Last Judgment Gang if you so choose. Worth noting, however, is that to get to the 100 trust score needed for the alliance is harder with the LJG than with any other faction, and much like a house of cards, you also lose trust points far easier and in greater capacity with the LJG than with other faction.
9. In the last area of the "Rebuild 3" campaign, your community is forced into war with two factions. One of them is the Government. Which is the other one?

Answer: The Pharmacists

It is worth that the LJG and Dalias will declare war on you in this final mission if you outright deny them the cure vials you have, or do not have any to give them. As the "cure" is driving your community into aggressive insanity, an accidental conflict between two random members of your community and members of The Pharmacists occurs.

It results in the members of the Pharmacists ending up dead. In retaliation, the equally aggressive and infected Pharmacists will declare war on you. This event cannot be avoided no matter what you do, even if you secure an alliance with them before hand, and it occurs after the twenty fifth day.
10. How do you unlock the one, true, definitive ending of "Rebuild 3"?

Answer: Defeat the Government on the final map

After spending so many missions as an afterthought, the Government spends the last map of the game as the game's antagonists. Very quickly into the final mission, you are forced into a war you cannot negotiate yourself out of with them. The only way to beat the game is to destroy the entire faction, which is easier said than done given that you'll have to deal with: A. Frequent hordes of zombies hitting your walls B.

The Pharmacists hitting your walls and C. The Government itself sending soldiers to attack you.

While it may seem like you can just rampage your way down to the Government's base, more careful thinking and strategic planning will quickly become a must; do you give up pieces of your faction, in order to have enough soldiers to attack or defend elsewhere? Do you leave more soldiers home than you usually would, as a means of improving your defense under the duress? You will undoubtedly have to play this map much, much different than ones prior.
11. Which of the following is an ending that cannot happen in "Rebuild 3"?

Answer: You defeat the Government and restore world order

It is unfortunately impossible to simultaneously defeat the Government and avoid becoming a zombie. However, arguably the most "righteous" thing to do is to eliminate them anyway at your own expense. If you do, you get removed from the picture, but the more humane and ethical Dalia and Luddie clans will join forces to eventually restore the world to order. If you choose to not eliminate the Government completely, you will work with them to essentially bring about the end of humanity, as an underling.
12. What is the last name of the person who is primarily responsible for this wonderful series as we know it?

Answer: Northway

Sara Northway is the mastermind behind the scenes here. She is solely responsible for the first two editions of the game, and though she got plenty of mechanical help with the third one, she is still ultimately 100% responsible for the entire series' story writing and the creative aspects of everything.
13. One of the three editions of "Rebuild" hints at a future edition of the game in a pseudo-easter egg. Which one does this?

Answer: "Rebuild 3"

In "Rebuild 3", you have to go through quite a lot for the game to hint at a potential fourth edition. You have to secure the hard drive from the Government, and one of the documents on the hard drive will be the "coding" for a Rebuild 4. There is also a miniature write up about this that talks about how futuristic and amazing the fourth game is, as the character will sigh depressingly at the irony behind this discovery.
14. If you choose to not change any of the names of any of the maps in "Rebuild 3", where will the setting be?

Answer: The Canadian border

From the northernmost parts of the US, into the southernmost parts of Canada, this game takes you quite a way. Interestingly enough, one of the last few maps in the game is based in the city of Victoria, which is where Sarah Northway is from.
15. With the first two games simply being referred to as "Rebuild" and "Rebuild 2", what was the name of "Rebuild 3"?

Answer: Gangs of Deadville

The title "Gangs of Deadville" is a nifty way of forecasting how the game will be laid out. Right from the first moments of the game, you are involved with your map's politics. You are also the judge, the jury, and the executioner, and the fate of each faction, or gang, is in your hands.

In order to proceed from one map to the next, you must have either eliminated or allied yourself with every faction on the map.
