Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this cult run-and-gun platformer for the Sega Genesis known for being able to equip two weapons at a time, beautiful sprites, and over the top boss battles. A sequel was released for the Game Boy Advance. What Sega Genesis title is this referring to?

Answer: Gunstar Heroes

"Gunstar Super Heroes" was released for the Game Boy Advance, and is known for well-done bosses. Green particularly stands out, as you fight him numerous times in one seamless battle as "Seven Force".
2. In "Chrono Trigger" for the SNES, who is the non-player character that you can save during Crono's escape from prison?

Answer: Fritz

Fritz runs the shop in truce along with his father and sister. If you save him and visit him later on he will award you with ten Mid Ethers. Also, the memo in the Abandoned Sewers/Sewer Access that describes the inhumanity of the guillotine will only appear if you rescue Fritz.
3. In the SNES RPG by Square, "Live a Live", which of the first seven chapters takes place in feudal Japan?

Answer: Secret Orders

Inheritance takes place in ancient China, Wandering takes place in the American West, and The Strongest takes place in the present day of 1994. The first seven chapters is specified because the player can choose to play the chapters in any order they wish.
4. In the Enix action RPG "Soul Blazer", what is the name of the Doctor that created the machines that allowed King Magridd to form his pact with Deathtoll?

Answer: Dr. Leo

Dr. Leo's name is a reference to Leonardo da Vinci, which reflects Dr. Leo's other hobbies of painting and sculpting. Dr. Bekkler is a reference to Norstein Bekkler from "Chrono Trigger", Dr. Lugae is a boss in "Final Fantasy IV", and Dr. Wily is the main recurring boss of the early "Mega Man" games.
5. In Square RPG classic "Final Fantasy VI" (III US), what is Shadow's real name?

Answer: Clyde

Shadow (Clyde) worked with a man named Baram and were collectively known as Shadow. They discovered a treasure worth a million Gil but had the authorities hot on their tail. Baram was injured and pleaded for Clyde to kill him to save him from being in prison, but couldn't bear to kill his friend and fled to Thamasa.

There he married and fathered a baby girl, but couldn't escape his past and left both his wife and daughter to take on a new identity, donning the name of the duo he was once a part of.
6. In what Konami action platformer that's the first in its series do you control a possum trying to save the princess and defeat an evil empire of swine?

Answer: Rocket Knight Adventures

"Sparkster" was the spinoff for SNES based off of "Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2" for the Sega Genesis. "Rocket Knight" is the 2.5D revival of the franchise released on Xbox Live Arcade. "Awesome Possum" is a not-so-awesome game for the Sega Genesis with no relation to the "Rocket Knight" series whatsoever.
7. The 1996 Hudson Soft Japan-only SFC game "DoReMi Fantasy" has a notoriously difficult prequel on the NES. What is it called?

Answer: Milon's Secret Castle

The three NES titles that are incorrect are all Hudson Soft titles. "The Adventures of Dino Riki" doesn't have any sequels, "Adventure Island" has sequels throughout the SNES and up to the Wii with "Adventure Island: The Beginning". "Lode Runner" was originally published by Broderbund, but Hudson Soft dealt with the port to the NES.
8. What side-scrolling shooter by Capcom was originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1985, and was later ported to the NES in 1987?

Answer: Section Z

"Section Z" is based around an astronaut invading a space station orbiting the Earth to destroy it. The space station is the secret base of the alien empire the "Balangool". The final battle against "L Brain" is as memorable as the catchy tune throughout this game.
9. What action platformer developed by LucasArts and published by Konami doesn't feature anything related to "Star Wars", but does feature Assault Suits that you can hop in and out of when necessary?

Answer: Metal Warriors

"Metal Combat" is a game that utilizes the Super Scope, and "BattleTech" is the Japanese name for the prequel to Mech Warrior 3050. Metal Warriors was released in 1995 and, contrary to popular belief, is NOT a sequel to Cybernator, a similar game for the SNES.
10. Which "Streets of Rage" game features Max and Skate as playable characters?

Answer: Streets of Rage 2

Bare Knuckle is simply the Japanese name for the first game in the series, which features Adam, Axel, and Blaze. "Streets of Rage 3" has Dr. Zan replace Max in the character roster.
