"Slay the Spire" - What Does That Relic Do? Quiz

It's not all about the cards. In "Slay the Spire" (PC), your success can also be attributed to the Relics that can turn the tides. See if you can match up the Relics to their descriptions. Good luck!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Raise Max HP by 7.

Answer: Strawberry

A Common Relic, the Strawberry is one of a handful to give out straight HP. In fact, it's likely the one you'll find as all of the other HP-giving Relics are of a higher rarity.

Looking for more? The Uncommon Relic, Pear, gives 10 HP. The Rare Mango gives 14 HP. The Tiny House, given at random after boss battles, gives 5 HP in addition to other perks. Finally, you can buy Lee's Waffle from the shop; it gives 7 HP and refills your total health to max.
2. At the start of each combat, draw two additional cards.

Answer: Ring of the Snake

A Silent-exclusive Relic, this one is actually given to you at the start of your ascent if you choose this poison/shiv-heavy class. All four classes start with a specific Relic though you have the option at the beginning of the game, often, to trade out said Relic for another at random.

Similarly random, you can upgrade the Ring of the Snake to the Ring of the Serpent if you happen to come across it following a boss battle. If taken, this Relic will give you an additional card at the start of the match.
3. If you end your turn without Block, gain 6 Block.

Answer: Orichalcum

One of those 'take it for granted' Relics, the Common Relic Orichalcum is one you'll find with great frequency in the early game on virtually any character. In most rounds, this Relic does nothing, but in rounds where you neglect to Defend in any way, it'll give you a bare minimum of 6 defence. That being said, if you have even one point of defence, it won't activate, and you'll be stuck with less than what the Orichalcum could have offered.
4. Prevent the first time you would lose HP in combat.

Answer: Fossilized Helix

A Rare Relic, the Fossilized Helix is a useful one, especially against bosses who lead into combat with colossal amounts of damage. If your goal is to avoid taking damage, a similar Relic would be the similarly Rare Incense Burner which has the ability to make you intangible ever sixth round of combat, reducing your damage take to 1 HP per hit temporarily.
5. You can now gain strength at Rest Sites (max 3 times).

Answer: Girya

For the right type of character/player, strength is massively important, and Girya will come in handy if you're able to prioritize it. This Relic allows you to choose a training option at Rest Sites (instead of resting or upgrading a card) three times (any three Rest Sites). It's a Rare Relic though.

If you need strength by other means, Vajra automatically gives 1 strength. If you're an Ironclad, the Red Skull gives 3 strength if your health is 50% or lower. The Shuriken also gives 1 strength if you work for it; you need to make three attacks in one round of battle to get that strength, and you can do that multiple times in a single battle. They're not the only ones either!
6. Draw two additional cards each turn. Start each combat Confused.

Answer: Snecko Eye

This one is a real toss-up. Very few foes in "Slay the Spire" cause confusion, but when this affliction hits your character, the values of all cards in your hand are randomly generated. It can cause chaos or be a potential boon depending on the situation. Snecko Eye, a boss Relic, gives you the extra cards, but their value will be up in the air. Typically, you can avoid confusion by starting with 1 artifact, but this Relic starts the confusion at the beginning of battle.
7. You feel more talkative.

Answer: Cultist Headpiece

One of a small handful of event-based Relics, the Cultist Headpiece can only be collected from the Face Trader if you land on his space as a random event. Even then, you need to make the choice to claim a mask, and it could be this one, a replica of a Cultist's head. When collected, this Relic allows you to start every battle with a fearsome CAW CAAWWW! It has no other real value.
8. Upon pickup, remove two cards from your deck.

Answer: Empty Cage

There are a few Relics in the game that promote culling instead of adding on new abilities, and sometimes those Relics are the best possibility. The Empty Cage is all about deck maintenance, and when you collect it, it allows you to immediately remove two cards. These cards are your choice, and in the best case scenario, you can use them to remove Curses.
9. Energy is now conserved between turns.

Answer: Ice Cream

One of the more useful cards for general deck awareness, Ice Cream allows for a bit of a chance to let your guard down, especially if you're already on top of your capabilities. With this Relic, any energy you can't use at the end of a turn rolls over into the next. Because of this ability, this Relic is quite rare and, when it appears at the merchant's shop, it costs more than virtually any other in the game.
10. Enemies in Elite Rooms have 25% less HP.

Answer: Preserved Insect

Interestingly, while this Relic can potentially cripple any of the Elite foes in your way (who also guard their own Relics to be distributed), it's actually regarded as a Common Relic. This one can be found after defeating Elites, in non-boss chests, and in the merchant's shop. If your confidence is bolstered by something like this, you may also think it's a good idea to get your hands on the Black Star boss Relic-- it makes it so that two Relics drop per Elite foe.
