Each of the five Kongs can head to Funky's place to pick up weapons almost as soon as they're encountered in the game and DK's happens to be the Coconut Shooter, a large firearm that pops off single clunky coconuts. Upgrades to the weapons can be found in later stages of the game, enhancing aim capabilities, increasing ammo quantities, and adding homing ammo.

He's the first member of the DK crew!"

Whether or not DK is actually bigger, faster, or stronger might be up for debate since, as the game will continue to prove, the other members of the team will have much stronger capabilities in each of these fields; DK himself is actually quite solidly in the middle of the pack in the way of ability balancing. In addition to being able to shoot into personalized barrel challenges with Baboon Blast, he can go invincible with the Strong Kong ability and pull switches with his Gorilla Grab.

"This Kong's got style, so listen up dudes
She can shrink in size, to suit her mood"

Tiny Kong certainly leans into her name. In addition to being the smallest Kong by her very nature, Tiny can get even smaller using Cranky's potions; the Mini Monkey ability can shrink her to access places that other Kongs simply can't. Tiny can be unlocked alongside Lanky Kong when DK and Diddy reach the game's second level, Angry Aztec.

"If you choose her, you'll not choose wrong
With a skip and a hop, she's one cool Kong!"

In addition to being able to shrink, Tiny is a lightweight character option able to teleport (using Tiny pads) and float through the air using her hair, not unlike Dixie Kong in earlier "Donkey Kong" games. She's the only Kong not to receive a fruit-based weapon (she uses the Feather Bow), and Candy Kong will bestow the Saxophone upon her as a musical instrument.

This Kong has a funny face"

Actually an orangutan, Lanky Kong is distinctly different from the others in the family and his differences are his strengths. Able to walk around on his hands, he can actually use his amazing grip to spring around in a handstand or climb steeper hills to access locations that other Kongs simply can't. Lanky's character colour is blue; his bananas and coins are connected with that.

This crazy Kong just digs this tune!"

Lanky's pad move, learned from one of Cranky's potions, is the Baboon Balloon, which allows the Kong to use his gas problem to make a gas solution. With this, Lanky can inflate himself to ascend and navigate in the air, rising higher than other Kongs through levitation.

"He's back again and about time too
And this time he's in the mood"

Diddy Kong isn't making his first appearance in this game by any means, having been playable in "Donkey Kong Country" and "Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest" (both for SNES) as well as starring in the N64 game "Diddy Kong Racing". His appearance here is a welcome one as he brings his manic chimp energy to the fray, using his agility to sprint around, and aid the Kongs with a sense of coolness and panache.

More than most Kongs, Diddy seems to be outfitted with tools to aid in the journey. In addition to being upgraded with a jetpack (the Rocketbarrel Boost), Diddy uses Peanut Popguns (from Funky) and the Guitar Gazump (from Candy) to fight Kremlings and other foes. it's unsurprising that these items carried over into Diddy's later appearances in the "Super Smash Bros." series.

"Can pick up a boulder with relative ease
Makes crushing rocks seem such a breeze"

The largest of the Kongs, Chunky is the last of the five to be unlocked (in Frantic Factory) and the most hearty, able to grow larger than the others using Cranky's Hunky Chunky potion. It's because of his bulk that he has much less trouble lifting or destroying larger boulders though it's clear that his temperament isn't quite in line with his bulk. His instrument from Candy, for example, is a triangle.

And that's the truth! Chunky Kong is the slowest of the Kongs due to his size but he makes up for it with power and other capabilities. On one hand, Chunky can learn the Primate Punch, allowing him to use his weight to strike enemies with more force. On the other, his Gorilla Gone ability allows him to stand on Chunky pads to go temporarily invisible.
