1. Kyle bursts through the porthole and stumbles into "Donkey Kong 64". Hurray! He's made it. Surely the authors wouldn't think of looking for him here! He needs somewhere to stash the chocolate, but looking around all he can see is water, and the evil K-Rool's boat across the way. Where in Donkey Kong land is Kyle?

Answer: DK Isles

Donkey Kong Isles is the hub land that connects all the levels of the game. A good place to start, but Kyle isn't happy. There's nowhere to hide chocolate here without it melting, and the hungry chat board authors are sure to be hot on his heels. He needs to find a good place for his cache, but before he can take a step, Donkey Kong himself swings down out of a palm tree.
"Kyle!" He says. "You brought me chocolate! I knew I could count on you to know how boring it is eating nothing but bananas." But Kyle knows what Donkey's like with chocolate. He doesn't share. He'd eat the lot himself! Kyle feints left, then runs around DK into a nearby cave.
Hungry monkeys! Kyle wasn't expecting that. This may not have been the safest place to hide his pilfered hoard. At least he doesn't have to worry about meeting up with K. Rool and his minions, since they were defeated last time he played the game.

2. Kyle makes it into the first level "Jungle Japes" and realizes he can't cross the lake without ruining his chocolate, but he's played this game so often; he knows all the hidey-holes. On his side of the lake is a tunnel with a cave at the end, but Kyle's forgotten that the hollow logs where he was going to stash some of his chocolate are really small! There's only one Kong capable of helping him. Which one is it?

Answer: Tiny Kong

Tiny Kong appears and offers to stash some of Kyle's chocolate in the hollow logs around the sides of the cave. For a price. And that price is his strawberry centres. Grumbling about what girls are like with chocolate he reluctantly agrees and hands them over.

3. After beating a hasty retreat from the first level Kyle heads over to the second level, "Angry Aztecs". But he's forgotten how hot the place is, and he needs somewhere cool for his chocolate before it melts. He remembers a frozen pool somewhere in the level and thinks this would be a good place to go. Which building contains the frozen pool for Kyle's pilfered loot?

Answer: First temple

Kyle enters the first temple near Candy Kong's music shop but is brought up short! The ice has melted and he's now looking at a pool of water! It had been so long since he'd played the game; Kyle had forgotten that of course, had the ice not melted he wouldn't have been able to access the hollow logs in the last level.

But then, he wouldn't have had to give away his strawberry creams either. With the ice melted, the temple is too hot to store chocolate. Mentally cursing Diddy Kong, the peanut popgunner responsible, he leaves both the temple and the level quickly; "Angry Aztecs" with a manic monkey on the loose is no place for a chocolate stash. Especially not for chocolate covered peanuts.

4. Kyle is becoming worried. The authors are sure to realize soon that he's really not holidaying in Cuba. He needs somewhere to hide his stolen chocolate, fast! He decides to head off to the third level of the game and try his luck there. There are bound to be some good hiding places there. What is the third level of "Donkey Kong 64"?

Answer: Frantic Factory

Of course! The best place to hide some chocolate is in a factory! There are lots of boxes, locked rooms and corridors everywhere. But the entrance to the level is on K. Rool's boat and he can't swim across to it because water logged chocolate is not very appetizing. Thank goodness for bananaports. Kyle sneaks into the level and runs straight into Chunky.
"Choco!" He roars. "Gimme, gimme."
"Sure," says Kyle, for he knows that Chunky, despite his size, is a monkey of very little brain. "I'll give you this nice rocky road if you guard my secret stash that I'm leaving here.
"Oooh! Chunky monkey!" Says Chunky.

5. It's been a while since Kyle has eaten anything except chocolate and coloured bananas, so he goes in search of some vegetarian meat that he remembers from his time playing the game. Where is Kyle going now?

Answer: Fungi Forest

Level 5: Fungi Forest is Kyle's next destination. The big mushroom in this level is so big; surely no one will miss it if he has just a little bit. Just as he is about to slice off a nice, thick slice of mushroom, something hits him in the ear and purple slime drips over his shoulder.
Stop, thief!" Yells Lanky. "Is it not bad enough that you pillage the chocolate vault; you want to eat our giant mushroom? I'll give you to the count of three to get out of here before I feed you to the man-eating tomatoes."
Soon, grapes are raining down over him, and Kyle remembers that in this level, the Kongs get homing missiles. He quickly grabs a few slightly bruised grapes, and runs away before Lanky can turn him into tomato lunch. He may not have gotten any mushrooms, but at least he got some grapes.

6. Kyle decides that an ice cave is the best place for his chocolate, to keep it cold and stop it melting all over his fingers. He knows there an ice castle around here somewhere, but it's been so long since he's been this far in the game, he can't quite remember where it is. In which level can you find an ice castle?

Answer: Level 6: Crystal Caves

The entrance to Crystal Caves is inside DK statue's ear! You could almost be mistaken for thinking there would be candles or waxworks here! Ignoring the cabin area, Kyle debates the merits of hiding his loot in the ice castle or the igloos. After noticing that he's left chocolate fingerprints all over the place, he decides against hiding all of his loot in one place, uses both hideaways instead. Just in case the unthinkable happens and the authors track him down. Or worse still, Donkey Kong finds it and decides he wants some chocolate covered bananas!
Just as Kyle is stashing some of his remaining chocolate into the igloos, Candy Kong appears.
"You really shouldn't leave that chocolate alone without someone guarding it," she says. "There are a lot of chocolate deprived Kongs around here." Dragging his eyes away from Candy's really big... shoes, Kyle asks what her price is. "I'm quite partial to Peppermint Creams", she replies. "If you give me all the Peppermint Creams, I'll watch the rest for you."
Kyle can't believe he's been duped again. What is it with these Kongs? They seemed rather simple simians in the game, but give them a whiff of chocolate and they morph into mercenary monkeys.

7. Using a blast barrel to propel himself up to the Creepy Castle, Kyle then sneaks into an underground cave. "This is perfect", he thinks to himself. "My chocolate is sure to be safe here!" But someone else is already in the cave! Kyle isn't terribly worried though, he seems like a friendly chap, and can give Kyle a way to defend himself against marauding monkeys. Who is in the cave?

Answer: Funky

Funky, keeper of Kong land's armamentarium, looks at Kyle. "Yo dude! You run into Lanky's grapes? You got purple juice all over you. You better take this here candy cannon. It will shoot giant marshmallows, big enough to engulf your enemies. But since you don't have any Kong coins, it will cost you a serving of your finest fudge.

Interested?" Kyle is torn, he desperately wants the marshmallow mortar, but he's also partial to chocolate fudge himself. In the end, he swaps the fudge for the gun; because if he eats all the chocolate himself, he'll get cavities in his teeth.

Not to mention a waistline to rival the biggest beer gut in the history of all beer guts.

8. Kyle looks at his rapidly dwindling chocolate hoard. These Kong characters are ruthless! Maybe he should have shared it with the other authors, they probably wouldn't eat as much as these chimps. There is one level that Kyle hasn't hidden chocolate in, and that level is "Gloomy Galleon". The slight problem remains of transporting his hoard without waterlogging it en route. If only he had a magic potion. Of course! A light bulb flashes on over Kyle's head. There is someone who can help Kyle with a potion. Who is it?

Answer: Cranky

"Bah" Cranky snorts when Kyle finally finds him. "You don't deserve any potion, but I'll let you have it just so you can put one over those lazy, good-for-nothing Kongs. It's a little potion that will make you impervious to water. So if you take the potion and stick that chocolate up your jumper, you should be able to reach your destination.

It'll cost you the lousy price of fifteen coins. Are you game?" Kyle stutters, he has no coins and nothing to offer, except his chocolate. He should have seen that one coming.

In desperation he hands over his liquor-filled chocolates and takes the potion, hoping that it isn't a double-cross so Cranky can get all the remaining loot.

9. "Made it!" Kyle drags himself out of the water onto dry land. He managed the underwater swim across to "Gloomy Galleons" without wrecking his precious chocolate. Doing a happy beagle dance (on loan) he enters the dry ship area. Behind the rear part of a ship he finds the perfect place for his chocolate. Where is Kyle hiding his precious?

Answer: Treasure chests

Kyle stashes half of his remaining chocolate into the treasure chests and decides to leave. No other Kongs have emerged wanting their share of his pilfered goodies, and the silence is slightly unnerving. He decides to go back to the author lounge with the last of the chocolate and hope the authors don't realise how much is missing. He'll be able to come back anytime he wants more chocolate, if those mangy monkeys haven't sniffed it out.
He swims out of the level and onto DK Island. "Right," he says. "I'll go back and pretend I really was on holiday."
But just then, a resounding boom echoes around the game. He looks up to see where it came from, and his blood runs cold. Sprung!

10. No! The unthinkable has happened and the authors have found their way into the game. To make matters worse, the mangy, flea-bitten monkeys have sided with them! And they've accessed Hideout Helm and K. Rool's secret weapon, which is now pointing directly at him! Kyle is toast unless he gives up the chocolate. What is the name of K. Rool's mighty munition?

Answer: Blast-O-Matic machine

The Blast-O-Matic machine had been dismantled, so that sniveling weasel Snide must have joined forces with the authors. He's the only one with all the blueprints.
Seeing that he is outnumbered, Kyle reluctantly surrenders his chocolate to the ravenous authors. They pounce on the gooey mess, rugby scrum style, pushing and shoving each other to get the biggest piece. Hair and chocolate flying everywhere, the authors fight for their favourite flavours, as Kyle looks on the melee in bewilderment - this is a side of the authors he hadn't suspected!
After a long time the authors sit back, contentedly licking their fingers while the Kongs still have their noses in the trough.
Of course, Kyle still had little caches of chocolate hidden around Donkey Kong land that he could get whenever he wanted more chocolate. Unless those pesky fairies get to it first...
