Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Drag-On Dragoon" In the "Drag-On Dragoon" series, most human characters are named after demons. Which human character from the first game is not directly named after a specific demon?

Answer: Furiae

Furiae, whose name is spelled as Furies in the Japanese release of the game, is not named after a specific demon, but the Erinyes (also known as Furies) of Greek mythology. Rather than demons, they are considered more akin to "infernal goddesses."
2. "Drag-On Dragoon" The mantra of the Cult of the Watchers does not include which of these lines?

Answer: Awaken not the Watchers

The full mantra of the cult is, "Speak not the Watchers, draw not the Watchers, write not the Watchers, sculpt not the Watchers, sing not the Watchers, call not the Watchers' name." In the Japanese dub, the cult is instead known as the Church of the Angels.
3. "Drag-On Dragoon" In order to achieve the complete canon path to "Drag-On Dragoon 2," how many chapters must be played either in part or in whole?

Answer: Thirteen

Due to the way the game has split paths and the complicated nature of the canon, the full story plays out of order. First, chapters 1-5 are completed in whole, including the party members' side chapters, all but the last verse of chapter 6 is completed, the last three verses of chapter 11 are completed, chapter 7 is completed, the first four verses of chapter 9 are completed, and at last chapter 8 is completed.

The complicated nature of this path actually has an in-universe explanation that the order of fate may be changed due to strong concentrations of magic in one area creating a singularity in time.
4. "Drag-On Dragoon" What is the name of Seere's and Manah's mother?

Answer: Ramia

Ramia makes only one appearance in "Drag-On Dragoon," albeit it as a corpse. Her name was mentioned in the manga, "Shi ni itaru Aka" when it is also revealed that she is descended from Male One and a woman named Rosa.
5. "Drag-On Dragoon 2" Which character from the first game is neither seen nor mentioned in its sequel?

Answer: Faerie

All major characters sans Faerie, Salamander and Undine are in some way referenced in "Drag-On Dragoon 2," most likely due to the physical absence of their pact partners, Leonard and Arioch, respectively. Six characters make a direct appearance and have an impact on the story, while five characters are only mentioned or indirectly referenced.
6. "Drag-On Dragoon 2" Which District Guardian has a pact with a hippocampus?

Answer: Hanch

Hanch made a pact with a hippocampus named Kelpie in a desperate attempt to save herself from drowning. The price for her pact, signified by the rune on her chest, was her beauty.
7. "Drag-On Dragoon 2" What was not part of Legna's grand plan for facing off against the gods?

Answer: The deaths of Manah and Eris

Legna does not seem to mind whom Nowe fights alongside so long as they do not interfere with his goals. Ironically, despite Ending B being the only one in which the war with the gods begins, Legna does not transform into his own Holy Dragon form and Nowe is not able to channel his New Breed abilities.
8. "Drag-On Dragoon 2" What is the name of the main vocal theme of the Japanese version of "Drag-On Dragoon 2?"

Answer: Hitori

The song "Hitori," which is roughly translated to English as "Alone," acts as the musical theme for the death of Caim and Angelus and the final battle between Nowe and Legna. Due to legal issues with the singer, Mika Nakashima, it had to be replaced with "Growing Wings" in the English release of the game.
9. "Drag-On Dragoon 3" What is the first of Accord's requests that may be completed?

Answer: The Beloved Stone

Accord's requests are optional bonus missions that may be completed at the player's time of choosing. Only a select few are mandatory to unlock the final ending, as some will reward the player with weapons needed to allow the player to begin Branch D. Most missions involve collecting a certain number of items either by obtaining them from defeated enemies or opening reinforced steel chests.
10. "Drag-On Dragoon 3" Why does Zero need to team up with a dragon to fulfill her goals?

Answer: She needs one to kill her when her journey is over

Years before the events of "Drag-On Dragoon 3," a sentient parasite called the Flower attached itself to Zero. Knowing of its evil intent, she attempted to commit suicide to stop if from spreading. However, this worked against her and gave birth to five sisters. Knowing that dragons are the natural enemies of Intoners due to their Blood Memory, she teamed up with Michael to destroy her sisters and eventually have him destroy her to keep the world safe.
11. "Drag-On Dragoon 3" What is the true form of an Intoner's Disciple?

Answer: A dove

As it would be, Disciples were actually doves who were given human form through an unknown mean. Intoners possess the ability to transform a Disciple back into a dove, or if one should summon their Angel without their Intoner's song, they will give up their body in exchange.
12. "Drag-On Dragoon 3" In the final battle against the Flower, what trick does the camera angle play during Two's phase?

Answer: It zooms in closely to Mikhail's face

During this nearly impossible final battle, the goal is to match the musical rings sent from the Intoners in rhythm. However, the majority of the challenge comes not from the rhythm itself, but from the camera angles. Of the seven phases of the battle, the camera will do various things which make it impossible to see both Mikhail and the musical rings at the same time, so one must rely on their sense of hearing.

However, if that is not bad enough, the last few notes of the battle are played silently on a completely black screen, one of which occurs during character dialogue.
13. "NieR Replicant" Which of these weapons did not appear in "Drag-On Dragoon" in any capacity?

Answer: Labyrinth's Song

In the world of "NieR," many weapons from the first game were scattered across the world when Caim and Angelus were shot down in Tokyo, thus justifying the necessity to collect all weapons before the final battle could be accessed. In "Drag-On Dragoon," the Ancient Overlord is a sword called Kingsblood, the Sunrise is a spear called Fheng's Glaive, and the Rebirth is a short sword called the Ravenfeeder.
14. "NieR Replicant" There are exactly two ways to restore health.

Answer: False

For the first half of the game, the only ways to restore HP are to use an item such as a medicinal herb, or to stand in front of a mailbox. In the second half of the game, when Emil becomes a permanent party member, he will rarely send healing spells which restore a small amount of HP when he is set to a defensive role.
15. "Nier Gestalt" Aside from his physical appearance, what is the only gameplay difference that Father Nier has from Brother Nier?

Answer: He runs more quickly

This is actually due to complaints from players of "NieR Replicant" that Brother Nier runs too slowly, so as a result, running speed in "NieR Gestalt" is slightly increased. Yoko Taro's in-universe explanation for this is that Brother Nier is slower due to having shorter legs.
