In the prologue mission, Trevor Philips, Michael Townley and Brad Snider were attempting to rob a bank in North Yankton. The job went wrong when the police and federal agents responded to the scene. Michael and Brad were shot while Trevor managed to get away. Michael was presumed dead and Brad was thought to have been incarcerated following the incident.

Ten years after the North Yankton incident, Michael Townley (now known as Michael DeSanta) robs a jewelry store in Los Santos. While in his trailer making love to Ashley (Johnny's girlfriend), Trevor is startled by the news report of the heist. The suspect described by the witness seemed to fit Michael's profile. Johnny comes to the trailer to confront Trevor. Trevor shoves Johnny to the ground and stomps on his head repeatedly, killing him. Johnny was a supporting character in "Grand Theft Auto IV" and the protagonist in "The Lost and Damned" expansion pack.

Answer: O'Neil family

Trevor is trying to negotiate a drug deal with some Triads. In the mission, "Crystal Maze" the Triads tell Trevor they were looking to take their business elsewhere. Trevor finds out that the O'Neil family had already made a deal with them. Angered, he fights his way through the O'Neil ranch and pours gasoline on the floor of the house.

The house explodes into flames as Trevor walks away.

Answer: Rage quitting a video game at home

When the player shifts between the characters a small cutscene will play showing what each character was up to in their downtime. Trevor will sometimes wake up hungover either in his street clothes, a woman's dress or in his underwear. Sometimes, Trevor will have a two-star wanted level with police in pursuit.

The "scooter brother" cutscene came from a YouTube meme of "GTA IV". Michael is the character who will rage quit a video game at his home.

Answer: Patricia Madrazo

Trevor kidnaps Martin Madrazo's wife, Patricia, after Martin stiffed Trevor his payment for a job. While in captivity, Trevor starts to fall in love with her. Patricia develops a crush on Trevor as well, but she wishes to stay true to her husband despite his abusive behavior. Trevor cries in the car when he finally returns her to Martin.

Answer: The Merryweather Heist

Trevor is the mastermind behind The Merryweather Heist. He suspects Merryweather Security is protecting a secret government device. Trevor plans the heist from Floyd and Debra's apartment near Vespucci Beach. The player has the option of attacking the freighter with Franklin as a sniper and with Michael planting bombs on the boat.

The second option involves searching for the device underwater with a submersible.

Answer: Al Di Napoli

Mr. and Mrs. Thornhill are an elderly British couple with an obsession with celebrities. They often ask Trevor to obtain something of value for them. Al Di Napoli, an actor within the game, was being stalked by the Thornhills. Mrs. Thornhill asks Trevor to kidnap Di Napoli before he reported her to the police.

After being held captive, the Thornhills ask Trevor to get rid of Di Napoli. Trevor has the choice of releasing Di Napoli or killing him.

Answer: Dom

Ron Jakowski is a government conspiracist and Trevor's sidekick. Wade Hebert, another of Trevor's associates, has numerous piercings and wears black and white clown makeup on his face. Chef cooks up the drugs at Trevor's meth lab in Sandy Shores. Dom is a thrill junkie who deals with Franklin.

Answer: The body was actually Brad's

In the mission, "Bury the Hatchet", Trevor figures out that Brad must have been the one that was killed. Enraged, he immediately drives to Sandy Shores airfield and flies up to North Yankton to see for himself. Michael books a flight to follow Trevor soon after. Trevor digs up Michael's grave and sure enough the decomposing body of Brad was in the casket, not in jail as Trevor was led to believe. Michael and Trevor have a stand off when the Triads show up to attack them. Trevor runs and leaves Michael to deal with them.

Answer: His mother

After the events of the final mission "The Third Way" (one of three options), Trevor will receive a mission at his trailer. When Trevor arrives he finds his estranged mother sitting on his couch. She scolds him for not taking care of her. Trevor starts crying, vowing to do anything for her.

She asks him to get her some medication and Trevor rushes out to get them. When he returns with the van full of pills his mother disappears yet again.
