In "Wreck-It Ralph", the main characters of Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Felix (Jack McBrayer) as well as the fictional "Fix-It Felix Jr." video game were heavily influenced by the real world arcade game "Donkey Kong". "Donkey Kong" was first introduced by Nintendo in 1981 and featured a carpenter named Jumpman (aka Mario), who makes his way up a construction platform to rescue his girlfriend from the villain "Donkey Kong".

Early in the film, Ralph is attending a "Bad-Anon" meeting where he discusses his dislike of being always having to be the "bad guy". Several real world video game villains are also in attendance at the meeting, including M. Bison and Zangief from "Street Fighter II", Bowser from "Super Mario Bros." and Dr. Eggman (Robotnik) from "Sonic the Hedgehog". Leading the "Bad-Anon" meeting was the ghost named Clyde from "Pac-Man".

The local bar in "Wreck-It Ralph's" arcade community is called Tapper's. It is based off of a real world game known as "Tapper" (aka "Root Beer Tapper"), which was introduced by Midway Games in 1983. In "Tapper", the player must slide down mugs of beer to numerous pixelated customers using controls that resemble beer taps.

The original "Tapper" was sponsored by American beer company "Anheuser-Busch" and featured the logo for "Budweiser" in the game. A more kid-friendly version was released named "Root Beer Tapper".

Answer: Hero's Duty

Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) was a female soldier who came from the fictional video game "Hero's Duty", one of the newest and most expensive games in Litwak's Arcade. Ralph had entered "Hero's Duty" in order to win himself a medal, but he inadvertently released one of the game's Cy-Bugs into a racing game called "Sugar Rush". "Hero's Duty" was influenced by real world first person shooter games, such as "Call of Duty" and "Halo".

While at Tapper's bar, Ralph searches the lost and found area to find a medal for himself, so that he could impress the townsfolk and prove he can be a "good guy". He doesn't find a medal, but he does find a Super Mushroom from "Super Mario Bros.", as well as an exclamation mark from the stealth game "Metal Gear Solid" for Sony PlayStation.

When Ralph holds it up, the exclamation mark makes the famous alert sound that a player would hear when an enemy soldier encounters Solid Snake.

Answer: King Candy

The Konami code is one of the most well known cheat codes in gaming history. It is primarily featured in games published by Konami, a video game developer from Japan. In "Wreck-It Ralph", the main villain King Candy (Alan Tudyk) uses the Konami code on his secret vault, which he enters using a Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) controller.

The Konami code is "up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A and start".

Answer: RoadBlasters

King Candy was revealed to be a rogue video game character named Turbo. Turbo was once the star of his own racing game "TurboTime", but became jealous when a new video game called "RoadBlasters" entered the arcade. Turbo invaded "RoadBlasters" causing the game to become corrupted, leading to the game to be "unplugged" along with Turbo's own game. Turbo would later invade "Sugar Rush", disguising himself as King Candy and secretly replacing its star character Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman). "RoadBlasters" is a real world racing video game that was released by Atari Games in 1987.

Answer: Q*Bert

When a video game at Litwak's Arcade breaks down the unit is "unplugged" and hauled away, leaving its characters homeless. "Q*Bert" is a real world puzzle game that was first released by Gottlieb in 1982. The small little orange alien can only speak in profanity censoring speech bubbles. Ralph encounters Q*Bert at Game Central Station after his game gets "unplugged". Ralph offers him a "Pac-Man" cherry and Q*Bert would later become part of "Fix-It Felix, Jr." as a bonus level character.

Answer: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

During the introduction scene, we see various arcade games that had once called Litwak's Arcade home over the years. One of these games was "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", a real world arcade game released in 1989 that was based on the popular cartoon series. Leonardo, the turtle who fights with kitana blades and wears a blue mask, appears on the side of the game cabinet in "Wreck-It Ralph".

Answer: Sonic the Hedgehog

"Sonic the Hedgehog" makes an appearance in "Wreck-It Ralph" at the Game Central Station. He is seen making a public service announcement about the safety rules of leaving and entering other characters' games. "Sonic the Hedgehog" debuted in 1991 on the Sega Genesis game console. He gave Mario and Nintendo a run for their money during the console wars of the 1990s.
