Interestingly enough, the Playstation was supposed to be a joint Sony/Nintendo venture. When Nintendo decided it did not want a CD based system, Sony went ahead on their own and entered the market with the Playstation and Nintendo released the cartridge based Nintendo 64.

Answer: Jaguar

The Jaguar was a horrible system that was supposed to be Atari's comeback in the console wars.
