Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where are we if we're picking up Voltorbs?

Answer: Power Plant

The Power Plant is located on the southern point of Route 9, and if we use the Surf technique, we can make our way down to it. Inside the building, there are rare TMs and items we can collect, but many of the items on the ground will actually be Voltorbs disguised as items. If we pick one of these up, we'll be forced into a battle.

At the exit to the Power Plant, we can fight and possibly capture the legendary Zapdos.
2. Where are we if we're buying Lemonade, Fresh Water, and Soda Pop?

Answer: Celadon City

These three items can be bought at the Rooftop Square on the top floor of the Celadon Department Store, and they cost $200-$300. We can use these items to gain entry to Saffron City by giving one to any of the four gatekeepers in each compass direction.

The Celadon City Department Store has many items that we can use throughout the game. On the second floor, we can get everyday items and TMs, the fourth floor contains important items like Pokédolls and Elemental Stones, and the fifth floor contains specialty items. We can receive a TM18 from someone behind the counter on the third floor, and using the three drinks, we can get three more TMs on the top floor.
3. Where are we if we're traveling between Route 2 and Route 11?

Answer: Diglett's Cave

Since the connection between Route 11 and 12 are blocked off, heading through the Rock Tunnel to the north is a good idea, but first, we'll need to pick up HM05 (Flash). The quickest way to do this from Vermilion City is to take Diglett's Cave all the way to Pewter City.

This prevents us from going all the way through Mt. Moon. Once we reach the Route 2 end, we can use the Cut HM to cut down some bushes to the south, and we can talk to Professor Oak's aide for HM05. Diglett's Cave only contains Digletts and Dugtrios, but they're usually between level 15 and level 35.

It's always best for us to bring water and grass-type Pokémon in here for the type-advantage.
4. Where could we be if we're fighting for the Volcanobadge?

Answer: Cinnabar Island

Despite being an island, Cinnabar Island is quite well known for having an abundance of fire-type Pokémon. The gym specializes in fire-type Pokémon, so we'll be fighting Blaine and his fire Pokémon. In order to enter his gym, we'll need to find the Secret Key in the Pokémon Mansion.

His gym contains many trivia questions which may result in a trainer battle if they're answered incorrectly. The Cinnabar Island gym is the seventh we'll visit chronologically.
5. Where are we if we're acquiring our Town Map?

Answer: Pallet Town

Pallet Town is our starting destination in this game, so it's very handy if we pick up a Town Map in this area. We can find this map in our neighbour (and rival) Gary's house, and it will be given to us by his sister. In this town, we can also acquire our Pokédex and our first Pokémon.

This area also has access to Viridian City to the north and Cinnabar Island to the south. The Town Map can be access from the Items list.
6. Where are we if we're getting some Old Amber?

Answer: Pewter City

Pewter City is home to the first gym of the game, but if we're looking for a more educational experience, we can visit the Museum of Science. Sure, there's not much that we can get here, but if we use the HM Cut on the bush to the east of the building, we can enter a lab and get the Old Amber from a scientist. If we take this to the lab on Cinnabar Island, we can turn the Old Amber into an Aerodactyl.
7. Where are we if we're capturing Mewtwo?

Answer: Unknown Dungeon

The Unknown Dungeon is the cave near Cerulean City and Route 24. If we go to the bottom floor of this large system of tunnels, we can find the rarest Pokémon, Mewtwo, and possibly capture it. Mewtwo is extremely difficult to catch without the Master Ball, so we'll need to use it if possible.

The cave contains no TMs, but we're more likely to find items in "Pokémon Yellow". In both "Pokémon Red and Blue" and "Pokémon Yellow", the cave is shaped differently.
8. Where could we NOT be if we're talking to Giovanni?

Answer: Lavender Town

We could be talking to Giovanni for the first time in Celadon City because he's running Team Rocket from the basement of the Celadon City Game Corner. Then again, we could be with Giovanni in Saffron City, talking to him on the top floor of the Silph Co. Building. If it's not one of these places, we could be meeting him for the third time in Viridian City' gym, where he is the leader and keeper of the eighth and final badge. Giovanni could be in any of these places although Team Rocket is in others.
9. Where in Kanto could we be if we can currently access Route 8, Route 10, and Route 12?

Answer: Lavender Town

Route 8 connects Lavender Town to Saffron City, Route 10 connects it to the Rock Tunnel to the north, and Route 12 heads south to Fuchsia City. Although Lavender Town contains no official gyms, it contains the seven-story Pokémon Tower. In this town, we can visit Mr. Fuji for our Pokéflute, or even meet the game's official Name Rater.

In order to reach Celadon City to the west, we'll need to pass through this town for the first time. In order to finish the Lavender Town portion of the journey, we need the Silph Scope from Celadon City.
10. Where could we possibly be if we're catching a Tauros?

Answer: Safari Zone

The Safari Zone is the only place where a Tauros can be caught in all three games. Kangaskhan is also an exclusive here. Although we may have a large stock of Master Balls (through the Missing_no cheat), it won't help us here. We'll need to use Safari Balls, skill, and luck in order to capture a Safari Zone Pokémon, and it makes it that much harder.

Some of the rarer Pokémon in the game such as Pinsir, Scyther, and Dratini may take a while to catch because they're extremely difficult to find, and catching them is a chore.

The Safari Zone is in the north end of Fuchsia City.
