Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which race has movable buildings?

Answer: Night Elves

Many of the Night Elves' buildings are Ancients (trees with faces and arms). They can be uprooted and moved to new locations, and can also attack any enemies that come too close. It can be substantially cheaper to move a Tree of Life to a new goldmine than to build a new tree (assuming the original goldmine has already been depleted). Ancient Protectors (the Night Elve's tower building), can also be moved to defend key areas, or to tower rush an opponent.
2. Which race has to spend resources to create a building on top of a goldmine before they can start mining gold from it?

Answer: Undead

The Undead have to 'haunt' a goldmine before they can harvest gold from it. This can be seen as both a good or bad thing. When building an expansion, the Undead do not have to build a town hall structure like the other races, but rather a cheap 'Haunted Goldmine' structure.

However, Orcs and Humans do not actually need a town center near their gold mine due to the nature of their gold gathering (they send runners). Night Elves can just uproot one Tree of Life and walk it over to an expansion, spending no gold at all.
3. Which race can create dwarven units?

Answer: Humans

Humans are merely part of the Human Alliance which consists of humans, dwarves, gnomes, and high elves. Humans make up most of the brute strength of Human armies, such as footmen and knights, while dwarves and gnomes are tech savvy and are used as riflemen, mortar teams, and steam engine drivers. Gnomes are responsible for flying gyrocopters. High elves are the magic based units, supplying human armies with priests and sorceresses.
4. Which race has two different worker units?

Answer: Undead

The Undead are the only race to have two different worker units. Their primary worker is the Acolyte which is responsible for gold mining and summoning buildings. Their second worker is the Ghoul which is both a basic attack/defense units as well as the Undead's lumber gatherer.
5. Which race's basic unit is ranged (not melee)?

Answer: Night Elves

The Night Elves' basic attack unit is the archer, the only ranged basic military unit. The Humans have footmen which are weak and cheap, and which can be mass produced. Orcs have grunts, which are more expensive, and generally tougher than footmen, yet less numerous. The Undead have ghouls which are quite hardy, but also play the role of lumber gatherer.
6. Which race has units that make Healing Wards?

Answer: Orcs

Orcs are allied with trolls and have the ability to create Witch Doctors from the Spirit Lodge. When upgraded fully (three times) Witch Doctors gain the ability to place healing wards. A small group of Witch Doctors, provided they're protected, can spawn many wards quite quickly during a battle, keeping the rest of you army (and your allies') in good health.
7. Three of the races in "Warcraft III" have a building that worker units can drop off lumber at, but which also has upgrades for your units' armor and attack power. Which race has different buildings for lumber drop-off and technology upgrades?

Answer: Humans

The Orcs have the War Mill where peons can drop off lumber and technologies can be researched. The Undead equivalent is the Graveyard, and the Night Elves have the Hunter's Hall, though Wisps don't drop off lumber. Humans, on the other hand, have a lumber mill for a lumber drop off point and a Blacksmith for weapon/armor upgrades.
8. Which race has to convert a goldmine by having its main building nearby?

Answer: Night Elves

The Night Elves, before they can mine gold, have to entangle a gold mine. This is done merely by have a Tree of Life/Ages/Eternity root itself close enough. When entangled Wisps can then mine gold similar to the Undead method, though Wisps are hidden inside the mine instead of spread around the perimeter, and are therefore safe from attacks.
9. Some heroes have a passive ability, called an aura, that augments nearby friendly units in some fashion. Each race has two heroes with an aura except which of the following races?

Answer: Orcs

Auras affect all friendly units within a certain distance of a hero. In large games (4 vs. 4) multiple heroes, each with a different aura, can greatly help a combined army.

The auras for each race are as follows:
Humans
Paladin: Devotion Aura (armor augmentation)
Archmage: Brilliance Aura (mana regeneration increase)

Undead
Death Knight: Unholy Aura (increased movement speed and life regeneration)
Dread Lord: Vampiric Aura (melee unit have life-steal)

Night Elves
Priestess of the Moon: Trueshot Aura (increased ranged damage)
Keeper of the Grove: Thorns Aura (enemy melee attackers take damage)

Orcs
Tauren Chieftain: Endurance Aura (increased movement speed and attack speed)

Another way to look at this is that every race has two heroes with a passive ability. The Orc Blademaster has the passive Critical Strike ability, which is not an aura, but gives the Blademaster a 15% chance to do extra damage on attacks.
10. Which two races' food producing buildings double as defensive buildings?

Answer: Orcs and Undead

While Humans have to build scout towers and upgrade them to be useful, and Night Elves have to build Ancient Protectors, Orcs and Undead just naturally have defensive structures in their bases. Undead build Ziggurats for food (food = population) production, which can be upgraded into either Spirit Towers or Frost Towers. Orcs, for food, build Burrows and can garrison up to four peons inside each one, from which they can shoot at enemies. Orcs can also build Watchtowers for base defense.
