Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. During the Colony 9 attack, when the party confronts Metal Face, the Monado is useless. But as Shulk & co. are cornered, someone comes in to save them. However, Metal Face is still unfazed. Systematically, reservedly, he neutralizes this new threat. He then slowly walks, positions, and kills this individual. Just who was at the end of Metal Face's blade?

Answer: Fiora

This scene captivated many people into the game. The main party is somewhat stunned/recovering from Metal Face, and Fiora comes in with a Mobile Artillery unit to save them. However, Metal Face is unfazed and easily kills her.

We were just getting situated to the game, and one of the main characters died?

The worst part is that even afterwards the party still can't come close to beating Metal Face. Afterwards, all they can do is watch as he flies away.
2. After the fight with Xord, just when you think there's a chance to rest, Metal Face arrives again. He again overwhelms the party and suppresses the Monado. Just before Metal Face starts to attack, Which character makes his entrance by running down a hill, chopping down some Mechon, before ultimately joining the fight?

Answer: Dunban

"Sorry to have kept you." - Dunban

Dunban KNOWS how to make an entrance. Dunban and Dickson do aid the fight, but unfortunately Metal Face and the mass-producted Face Mechon are too much for them as well. Ultimately, the Sani Telethia turns the fight into Shulk & co.'s hands.
3. On the first visit to Prison Island, we see the Emperor Sorean accept his fate, the Monado being "unshackled," and the defenses of Prison Island being ravaged by the Mechon. In the midst of all this, who do we find out is the driver of Face Nemesis, the silver Mechon?

Answer: Fiora

As Shulk slashes Face Nemesis' armour, he finds Fiora inside. Except, her body is an android and, most of all, she doesn't recognize Dunban, Shulk, or anyone else.

Fiora then leaves, while the party calls after her. Metal Face, wounded from the Monado II, tells Dunban that he'll kill him next time.
4. The takes the path via Valaak Mountain to chase the Mechon and bring back Fiora. As they are reaching the end, Face Nemesis actually comes on her own to talk to Shulk. However, Metal Face soon comes and restrains her. Metal Face reveals reveals his true identity. He sadly is Mumkhar, a former soldier of Colony 9? Who is infuriated by this, and personally fights Mumkhar one-on-one?

Answer: Dunban

Another great fight scene. Dunban is incensed(though he is still very self-controlled) by the fact is old war buddy has betrayed them, their home, killed their people, and mortally wounded Dunban's own sister. Obviously, Dunban has every right to be upset.

Dunban handily wins the duel, but before he can conclude/continue, Egil arrives and the fight is over.
5. The party next confronts Egil in Galahad Fortress. Egil's apocrypha disables the Monado. However, Face Nemesis disobeys Egil and, in the process, the breaks the bearings of the fortress causing their surroundings to fall. Face Nemesis is shutdown and about to fall, as Meyneth is in remission. Dunban orders the party to fall back. What does Shulk do?

Answer: He walks toward and falls after Face Nemesis/Fiora

Not a smart decision by Shulk, but in the end everyone ends up falling even though the rest of the party was trying to retreat.

But by happenstance, Fallen Arm is where the party lands (and it seems everyone falls by the water's edge or falls to land without broken bones), and they eventually regroup.

Obviously, many would agree that it's a forced plot device. As an alternative, even if they didn't fall by Fallen Arm, Dickson could have found them on the water anyway. That plot device might have been more natural whereas the former is more contrived.
6. "Your blade...it did not cut deep enough" Who says this poignant quote?

Answer: Egil

This quote became quite popular due to how strong, articulate, and emotionally affecting it is. And it has a quite poetic dual meaning.
Shulk fights and stabs Egil, yet before and after the fight, Shulk still tries to negotiate with Egil. However, his "sword", his Monado and his words, did not "cut deep enough" to affect Egil.

Egil then removes the Monado from his shoulders and proceeds to subdue the party with Yaldabaoth.
7. In Mechonis Core, the party faces Egil and manages to repress him. Shulk then decides not to deliver the final blow to Egil. Egil speculates that Shulk has overcome the "curse of Zanza" and reconciles with Shulk. However, in this moment, Shulk is shot in the chest. Who shot him?

Answer: Dickson

"I'm just doing my job as always." - Dickson

This is the biggest betrayal in the game. Everything is magnified when considering he shot a boy he raised as his own and deceived everyone in the party (and all of Bionis/Mechonis) for so long.
8. Next, we see the revival of the Zanza. He explains the how he used Shulk all this time to revive himself. He directs himself to fight the Mechonis, which leads him to fight Meyneth. What is Meyneth, in the end, forced to do?

Answer: sacrifice herself to defend the others

Meyneth and Zanza have a dramatic fight. Meyneth defends that the lifeforms of Bionis and Mechonis are living beings that have a right to life.

Zanza memorably, retorts, "And who decides that? A god?"

He then targets Shulk and then the party, forcing Meyneth to take the blow to save them all.
9. Back to Prison Island, the party is again taunting by Dickson. He callously belittles and toys with the party. In the final fight, he confidently subdues the party in the beginning; however as Shulk and Fiora gain new powers, he is given a mortal blow. What are his final moments?

Answer: He walks aways, sits down and smokes his last cigar

"I'm done. I'm going home." - Dickson

This probably the strangest defeat quote from a boss that most of us have ever heard.

While smoking, he thinks about Shulk, before dropping his cigar and finally dying.

Shulk, meanwhile, without seeing him, knows Dickson is going to die. He cries, showing how much Dickson meant to him.
10. In the last fight, Zanza notably says many times, "MINE is the one true monado, instrument of destruction and rebirth!" Quite fittingly, what enables Shulk to land the final blow to Zanza?

Answer: Monado III, the True Monado

During the latter part of the fight, Monado III is made from (seems to be deus ex machina) the individual powers of the party.

The symbol that appears on it reads "kami," signifying it has the power to defeat a "god" such as Zanza.

The irony here is that Zanza, tautologically says throughout the fight that his Monado is the "true Monado," where as in the end Shulk's Monado is called the "True Monado."
