Question 1 of 10
1. What's stronger than a new Barbarian, honestly? With two axes in hand you break out of the Rogue Encampment and place foes at your mercy. First stop: the Den of Evil.
To your shock, however, you die to your first major boss, a zombie foe at the end of the tunnel. Game over.
What's the boss' name?
Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Let's try this again-- you're going to see this one through. You make a Sorceress. At about level 6 you head out to the Cairn Stones and are promptly felled by a lightning-powered Carver named Rakanishu. Again? Seriously?
Where did this happen?
Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Your brand-new Paladin has just beaten Andariel and has moved on to Act II. In the sewers, you find, your accomplished fighter is, unfortunately, no match for the evil Radament, mainly because of which element used against you in battle? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Your hardcore Assassin has led you through Act II to a very important mission. This time, you've been obtaining the different pieces needed to craft the Horadric Staff, but you've died to a trash mob before grabbing the Staff of Kings. Where did your assassin finish its game? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Your Druid is in Act III. You're further than ever! Unfortunately, you're on fire...and now you're dead. It doesn't take long when you're standing in an inferno. What enemy were you facing before your Druid's untimely fate? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Not even your band of minions are able to overcome the High Council in Act III. If only you'd remembered to cast some buffs. Ah well-- you can think about it when you're making a new character. This one's toast. Which of these were you not fighting? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. You've been whittled down to your last new character, an Amazon. This time you've reached Act IV. You don't get too far though. You barely make it down the stairs before too many enemies block you and kill you. What is the name of the safe zone/town you've exited? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. With all of that knowledge you've gleaned from failure after failure and character after failed character, you've gone back to Barbarian and made him (of course, you glutton for punishment) hardcore. You've made it all the way to Act V this time but, rather than succeed and make to the end, you've fallen to three guardians, bosses fought at the end of which quest? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. The Eve of Destruction is finally upon you-- you've brought a brand new character, another Druid, up to Act V and you're on the final quest! Time to show hardcore who's boss! Before you can enter the Worldstone Chamber, however, you end up falling to a wave of enemies emerging from the portal. How many waves would you need to fight to enter the portal and face Baal? Hint

Question 10 of 10

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Corpsefire

Corpsefire is your introduction to the demonic world of "Diablo II". Heading out of the Rogue Encampment you'll find the Den of Evil hiding somewhere in the Blood Moor. This small dungeon is key for questing players-- it's the first in the game in terms of quests and dungeons and the goal is always to kill everything inside, presumably to rid the area of evil and protect the population of the encampment (you know, all ten of them? If that?). Corpsefire is usually at the very end; he always has Spectral Hit but in later difficulties he actually poses a threat with resistances and effectiveness. And you know what? Even if you die to him within your first few levels, you'll end the game. Goodbye Barbarian. Sigh.
2. Let's try this again-- you're going to see this one through. You make a Sorceress. At about level 6 you head out to the Cairn Stones and are promptly felled by a lightning-powered Carver named Rakanishu. Again? Seriously? Where did this happen?

Answer: Stony Field

Another Act I fight, Rakinishu is a Carver with lightning damage and, after a few difficulty changes, fire resistance. He's usually surrounded by a larger group of Carvers adjacent to the Cairn Stones, the site from which you can teleport to the village of Tristram featured in "Diablo I". Rakinishu is such a prominent figure in "Diablo II" that other Carver-like creatures (eg. Fallen) chant his name. Of course, beyond Act I, you don't see these creatures again.
But look at that-- dead again. Time to pick someone new.
3. Your brand-new Paladin has just beaten Andariel and has moved on to Act II. In the sewers, you find, your accomplished fighter is, unfortunately, no match for the evil Radament, mainly because of which element used against you in battle?

Answer: Poison

Down in the depths of the sewers, the third floor down, is a grimy, dirty place to die. Such a shame to lose your hardcore character down here. When you arrive in the city of Lut Gholein you'll be told to head down into the sewers to do something about that awful problem with the undead they have down there. As it turns out, an evil shaman known by the name Radament is literally raising the dead from down below.
Radament is very much a poisonous creature and will go so far as to breathe poisonous toxins in its immediate vicinity (not to mention consistently raise the dead). At the same time, you'll be facing off against cold and poison resistances in later difficulties.
Ah well, try again.
4. Your hardcore Assassin has led you through Act II to a very important mission. This time, you've been obtaining the different pieces needed to craft the Horadric Staff, but you've died to a trash mob before grabbing the Staff of Kings. Where did your assassin finish its game?

Answer: Maggot Lair Level 3

And such a stealthy (or even a trap-savvy) character! Downed in a lair of maggots. The catch behind Act II is that you're in the desert, and many of the dungeons are either ruins or holes in the ground.
Maggot Lair is a multi-layered dungeon filled with bugs of all sorts and, at the end, a gigantic queen maggot by the name of Coldworm the Burrower will be guarding a chest and the Staff of Kings. Pop this into the Horadric Cube with the Amulet of the Viper and you'll get the staff you need.
Provided you survive, of course. Maybe your next character?
5. Your Druid is in Act III. You're further than ever! Unfortunately, you're on fire...and now you're dead. It doesn't take long when you're standing in an inferno. What enemy were you facing before your Druid's untimely fate?

Answer: Fetish Shaman

Fetish Shamans, Flayer Shamans, and Soul Killer Shamans are all found in the dark, foreboding jungles of Act III and they're very similar to shamans in previous Acts due to their ability to raise and buff smaller, more obnoxious creatures. The interesting thing about these, however, is their uncanny ability to breath a jet of fire at the player, killing them quickly if they don't wear an ounce of fire resistance. Your druid's just been burnt to a crisp; sorry.
In Inferno mode, this creature is immune to cold damage; their Fetish spawns are speedy little creatures and, in a larger group, can be overwhelming.
So...what do you want to try next?
6. Not even your band of minions are able to overcome the High Council in Act III. If only you'd remembered to cast some buffs. Ah well-- you can think about it when you're making a new character. This one's toast. Which of these were you not fighting?

Answer: Ancient Kaa the Soulless

Ancient Kaa the Soulless is actually found in the end of Act II in Tal Rasha's Tomb; if you died to him too, you'd probably already be on your next character by now. Aren't you running out of retreads? You've got guts to keep going hardcore!
The fifth quest of Act III is 'The Blackened Temple', and when you get to the Travincal area before the Durance of Hate, you'll have to come face-to-face with these three strong enemies: Ismail Vilehand, Geleb Flamefinger, and Toorc Icefist. FYI, all three cast Hydra. I can see why you died.
You're going to have to get over it and make another character.
7. You've been whittled down to your last new character, an Amazon. This time you've reached Act IV. You don't get too far though. You barely make it down the stairs before too many enemies block you and kill you. What is the name of the safe zone/town you've exited?

Answer: Pandemonium Fortress

Act IV is the shortest of the five acts in "Diablo II" (with the "Lord of Destruction" expansion) and contains a great deal of enemies in large clusters. After fighting Izual you'll descend into the flaming rivers of Hell and go one-on-one against Diablo, the devil himself. Or you would had you survived the encounter on the stairs outside the Pandemonium Fortress.

Although, like the other towns, this area is safe, the stairs outside mark the edge of the boundary and you can face a mob or two or three if pulled to the threshold. And you did. And you're dead. That's seven characters. What now?

Answer: Rite of Passage

Reaching the Arreat Summit you end up finding three statues of guardians which, when approached, turn into bosses: Madawc, Korlic, and Talic. They're not easy and, quite likely, if you defeat them and finish the quest you'll end up leveling (maybe more than once). This is part of the game's penultimate quest-- the only thing left to do is face off against Baal in the Worldstone Chamber.
But it looks like you're going to need to start over. Why do you keep going hardcore again? You've got a tomb full of characters; might as well delete them to make space.

Answer: Five

The Eves of Destruction quest is the last one in the game-- everything builds to this point. It's a shame you had to end it right then and there; you were so soooooo close. Before entering the Worldstone Chamber you need to reach the Throne of Destruction in the Worldstone Keep.

This is where the portal waits. Before you can enter the portal, however, you need to fave five waves of enemies, each one from a different act of the game. The first contains Shamans, the second contains the Burning Dead, the third involves Council Members, the fourth is full of Venom Lords, and the fifth and final one brings back the Minions of Destruction. Only after killing everything can you face Baal. But you won't.

Not until you make a new character.
10. You've beaten the game! It's time to Frozen Orb your way through the secret level as your new Sorcerer. It's about time! Stepping through the portal, all goes swimmingly until you face off against the super unique boss of the 'Secret Cow Level'. You fall in a few hits. Who killed you?

Answer: The Cow King

To open up the Secret Cow Level you need to beat the game on a particular difficulty, collect Wirt's Leg from his body in Tristram, and combine it with a Tome of Town Portal in the Horadric Cube. This opens a unique portal to a distant location plagued by evil cows (which looks a lot like all of Act I). These cows can be quite strong but the rewards are monumental-- leveling up here is speedy and spells like Frozen Orb, when leveled up enough, are powerful enough to wipe out mobs.
Shame you had to die to the one boss-- The Cow King-- since he's Lightning Enchanted and Magic Resistant. Oh yeah, and he hits pretty hard too.
At least you made it this far.
