10. Who am I?

I was born in 1887 and was educated at St. Paul's School and Sandhurst and in 1908, aged 21, I gained a commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. During World War One, I served on the Western Front. I was considered a highly efficient young officer, and was given a succession of command posts both in Britain and in India and by 1938, I had been promoted to the rank of Major-General. I eventually found fame when I came up against the Desert Fox.

In 1900 GB was the only major maritime power not to have at least an embryonic submarine flotilla. This all changed in 1901 when the Holland 1 was launched and the Royal Navy Submarine Service was born.

The SLR was phased out of service during the early 90's and replaced with the SA80.

It was considered essential that the SLR's replacement be 5.56mm as this is the NATO standard calibre and in theory when on Multi-National operations different Armies can share ammo. In practice however, slight differences in each nation's rounds means that it's not always possible.
