Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Chevrolet Corvette

Launched in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette displayed its iconic badge from day one, having been crafted by the hands of Robert Bartholomew, an interior designer at General Motors. However, the checkered flag switched position with the red flag in 1984, assuming the form in use today.
2. A male mountain sheep is depicted in this logo. With solid, huge and strong horns, it fits the grill of a brand of American pickup truck. What truck is that?

Answer: Dodge Ram

The ram is the male mountain sheep represented on Dodge's Ram model. It was chosen as a hood ornament by Dodge in 1932, when sculptor Avard T. Fairbanks convinced Walter P. Chrysler that rams are "master of the trail and not afraid of even the wildest of animals", making them the perfect symbol for a cheap but mighty and durable automobile.

It was a natural step to name a huge pickup truck after it.
3. A Warner Brothers cartoon character was once also the symbol of a powerful American muscle car. Evoking speed, the bird figure was responsible for a characteristic sound while cruising the straight roads of the US deserts. What was this muscle car's name?

Answer: Plymouth Road Runner

At the time, Plymouth paid US$50,000.00 dollars for the right to use the Warner Bros figure known as Road Runner on their new muscle car. The characteristic sound of the character, his "beep beep", was also adopted and mimicked by the car's horn system.

The car itself was a prestigious performance automobile, covering a quarter of a mile in under 14 seconds and costing less than US$3,000.00 in 1968 currency.

Do not confuse the GTX and the Road Runner: the second was more powerful and lighter than the first, making it a fully performance-oriented automobile.
4. A snake, displayed as a badge on an English car fitted with an American V8 engine by the hands of a Texan former chicken raiser. Awkwardness apart, the car was a tremendous success on and off the racing tracks, leaving a legacy that outlived its creator. What car first came out with this snake logo?

Answer: AC Cobra

Despite not carrying the Shelby's name, which is automatically associated with the snake logo, the AC Cobra was the first of its lineage to adopt the snake as a symbol. Carroll Shelby managed to keep the logo for his company his entire life, with some claiming he took the idea of "Cobra" from Crosley.
5. One of the most controversial badges to ever be attached to a car, this logo was represented by a black tortoise in the middle of a round shape. What car used this badge?

Answer: Gordon-Keeble Gordon GT

In the Gordon-Keeble debut at car show, a pet tortoise appeared in one of the photos taken on the event, next to the Gordon GT model. Amazed by the irony, since the company was focused on the sports car scenario, the British automaker rapidly associated the uncommon animal to their logo, just for the sake of, you know, British sense of humor.
6. A sort of feline, the Jaguar, was the chosen animal by Sir William Lyons to represent his car marque in 1935. What was the first car to sport the new badge?

After the events of the 2nd World War, the former SS name was officially dropped, in order to avoid any false reference with the Schutz Staffel, when finally Jaguar beca.

Answer: Abarth

The red and yellow colors used in the Abarth's shield represents the racing world, along with the red, white and green color from the Italian flag. 8. Four rings, each one representing one of the manufacturers that merged to compose this German car maker. What company is this?

Answer: Audi

9. A thin deer is the symbol of this badge. Created by a Turkish car company, it displays a bronze age representation of a deer, within a blue background and a black, round perimeter. What company does this logo belongs to?

Answer: Anadol

10. The double chevron in a square, with red background, is the representation logo of this brand; however, the badges attached to their vehicles usually only display the double chevron, both in a stylized and in the traditional form. What company is this?
