Many don't realize that Jerusalem is a holy city for Muslims as well as for Jews and Christians. Multitudes of Muslim travellers flock to Jerusalem to see these ancient and holy sites of their religion and culture, just as Christians come to Jerusalem to view sites such as the Church of the Nativity.

Answer: China

The Temple of Heaven is one of the architectural marvels of China, and more specifically of Beijing, the capital city. This holy building was used by Chinese emperors to perform ceremonies each year to the various spirits of the Chinese pantheon.c
3. Alone among some highlands sits the fantastic Fortress of Paramonga. In which modern country could you locate this beautiful complex?

Answer: Peru

The Fortress of Paramonga was an ancient religious site of the Chimú Empire, which reigned in the area now occupied by the modern country of Peru. The Chimú were conquered by the ancient Incan Empire, and their culture was partially absorbed by the Incas. Some believe that the Fortress at Paramonga was the last site at which the Chimú held off the oncoming Incas!
4. The fantastic Hindu/Buddhist stupa called Borobudur may be found at which of these locations in Southest Asia?

Answer: Java

This fascinating structure is a monument to Buddhism, and one of the greatest religious complexes in the world. It was probably created by a Majapahit King, but no one knows the exact date at which it was built. Please see my specific quiz on Borobudur for more details!
