Answer: Sitka spruce

Sitka is a city-borough on the Alaska Panhandle. It was originally settled by the Russians in 1799, and named Novo-Arkhangelsk (New Archangel).

The name Sitka is derived from the Tlingit "Shee At'iká", meaning "People on the Outside of Baranof Island".
2. California's state tree is the type of tree Julia 'Butterfly' Hill spent two years in.

Answer: Coast Redwood

The tree's name is Luna and she is now protected, but other old-growth redwoods still need protection.
3. Red Maple is the state tree of which state?

Answer: Rhode Island

Not to be confused with Rhode Island Red, which is their state bird.
4. New York, West Virginia, Vermont and Wisconsin all share this state tree.

Answer: Sugar maple
