Answer: Spanish

Sí is pronounced "see" of course. It also works in Italian.

About 442 million people worldwide speak Spanish as a first language, making it the second most popular natively-spoken language.

As well as Spain, it is the official language of many countries in South America. It is virtually a second language in some parts of the USA.
2. Oui

Answer: French

Formally pronounced "wee", although you may hear some French speakers make it sound like "way".

French is spoken in many parts of the former French Empire in Asia, Central America and parts of the Caribbean.

About 76 million people speak French as a first language. It is the sixth most commonly spoken language worldwide when rated by level one (native) and level two (second language speakers).

In Canada, about 7m people speak French, although the informal Québécois may give formal French speakers a few problems.

Answer: Portuguese

Sim is pronounced "sing".

Portuguese is spoken by about 205m people worldwide as a first language. Away from Portugal, the largest number of Portuguese speakers is in Brazil.

Probably between 6m and 7m people worldwide speak Hebrew.

It is spoken not only in Israel, where it is one of two official languages, but in Jewish communities everywhere, often as a second language.

It is pronounced "Nn-DEE-oh".

Some 28 million people speak Swahili as a first language, but is is also spoken as a second language by about 82 million.

Answer: Hindi

It is pronounced "haa".

Also known as Hindustani, or Urdu, about 329 million people speak Hindi as a first language.

Hindi and English are the official languages of India as a nation, although only about 25 per cent of its people are native Hindi speakers. Individual states may have their own languages.

Answer: Slovak

Slovak is the official language of Slovakia and is spoken by about 5.51 million people.
9. Ydw

Answer: Welsh

No vowels, so of course it is Welsh. If you like vowels, try Oes Oy-s.

Ydw is pronounced "Uh-do".

At the 2011 Census, about 431,000 people in Wales (77 per cent of the population) were able to speak, read and write the language.

Road signs in Wales are written in Welsh and in English. Many organisations also have bi-lingual names.

There are also Welsh speakers in Chubut Province, Argentina.
10. Evet

Answer: Turkish

It is pronounced "ae-wet".

Most Turkish speakers live in the country, amounting to some 78.5 million level one speakers.
