The English word alligator comes from the Spanish word lagarto meaning lizard.

Struisvogel is Dutch. Mbuni is Swahili. Struzzo is Italian and pstros is Czech.

The English word ostrich comes from the French word the bird: autruche.

Pók is Hungarian. Kikooho is Hawaiian. Ragno is Italian and Spinne is German.

Spider could have entered the English language from any Germanic language's word for spider since they are all similar.
