I'd like to nominate: "Song for the Asking" by author Creedy. It's an amazing picture quiz with an enormous amount of interesting information. It went up on the front page late yesterday I believe (could have been very early today). Thanks, paulmallon PLEASE NOTE: She is on my friends list but I have (to my knowledge) never nominated any of her quizzes, although I've played dozens of her quizzes, many of which were excellent. This one is exceptional, in my opinion. Reply #283. Jul 31 13, 8:03 AM |

I spent yesterday night wavering over awarding it the EC. Good to know I wasn't the only one who thought it was good. :) Reply #284. Jul 31 13, 8:48 AM |

"Starlight Star Bright" http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?quiz=363892&edit=yes This was thumb worthy in my humble opinion:) Reply #286. Nov 06 13, 8:13 PM |

I keep writing, and usually strive, but still haven't found the illusive thumb. This one got a lot of very nice feedback (and a matching pair of sunnies), but it also apparently fell short... http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?quiz=354920 Thirteen years on FT is a long time with no thumbs... ;) Reply #287. You're not the only one who is thumbless. Lots of us are, it is certainly something that it is good to have the ambition to get, but I think if you try to write a quiz to get a thumb it just won't work. It's a question of what an Editor thinks at any one particular time, no hard and fast tules - if there were rules every author would be able to get one pretty much any time they wanted, which would devalue it. I am just going to carry on writing the quizzes I want to write in my own style and hope that one day.. Reply #288. Nov 19 13, 4:33 PM |

It took me a few hundred quizzes to get my first. ;) Reply #289. Nov 19 13, 4:35 PM |

Lord Kyle, that's depressing. ;) Reply #290. Nov 19 13, 5:15 PM |

Haha. It's not depressing when you consider how many authors have gotten it in much less. I started writing quizzes here in a very formulaic way (I still write a lot in the same way). It wasn't until I started pushing out of my comfort zone and taking more risks that I ended up getting the thumbs up. Sometimes it's right place, right time. :) Reply #291. Nov 19 13, 5:19 PM |

In all the time we've had the ability to give thumbs I have given very few. Those that I remember moved me in very specific ways. One made me laugh out loud, another made tears come to my eyes (for all the right reasons). One made me interested in a topic that I had previously found to be dreadfully boring. I'm pretty sure that none of them were written with the intention of trying for a thumb :) Reply #292. Nov 19 13, 5:57 PM |

Almost all of the thumbs I have given have been for quizzes that made me laugh. It's really not a measure of "best quizzes" but more like the "staff picks" table at a bookstore - our personal favourites, often for reasons not having much to do with their quality as a quiz. It took me several hundred quizzes as well, but now I have 4. Agony gave me a thumb for a quiz that isn't that highly rated, but she apparently enjoyed it. ;) Reply #294. Nov 19 13, 8:06 PM |

Creedy has done it again. Her quiz which went up today, "10 Interesting Facts", is a fount of amazing information. (Talk about doing research). Toss in just the right touch of humor, and you have an exceptional work of puzzle crafting. Reply #295. Jun 10 14, 2:15 PM |

I would like to nominate "Heartbreak Hotel" by Lpez. It is clever and unusual, yet not too hard or esoteric, a charmer! Reply #297. Jun 18 14, 11:27 AM |

This quiz by alaspooryoric is one of the best quizzes I've played on the site, so I'd like to recommend it too. Subject matter intriguing and additional information informative and very interesting. http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Literature/American-Lit--Exploration-and-Colonization-369276.html Reply #299. Can I nominate http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/BrainTeasers/Zippity-Doo-Dah-369527.html please. The Z Challenges are throwing up some great takes on titles, but I thought this one was very clever indeed. Reply #300. Aug 17 14, 7:39 AM |
