Answer: Bear

While travelling down the Carrock pursued by the Orcs, Bilbo notices a very large bear is also tracking the party and informs the others. Gandalf seems familiar with the animal and tells the others there is a dwelling nearby where they can find shelter. The group finds refuge in the home.

Answer: Bain his son

At the end of "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug", Bain hid the black arrow so that when Bard was arrested it would be safe. When Bain sees his father has escaped from prison, he leaves his sisters and the Dwarves to go retrieve the black arrow for his father. He brings it to his father and acts as the bow for his father to shoot Smaug. The arrow hits its mark and Smaug is slain.

Answer: They needed help reading the map

The Dwarves went to go visit the Elves because they needed help reading the map. If you recall what happened in the movie you will remember that Elves were the ones who told the group about the moon and how to find the key.

Answer: Gandalf

Captured by trolls, Bilbo and the dwarves are about to become dinner. Bilbo picks up on the fact that the trolls cannot be out after sunrise. He also catches a glimpse of Gandalf, who has returned. Bilbo buys some time getting the trolls talking about the best way to cook the dwarves, eventually suggesting that they shouldn't be eaten at all because they are infested with parasites. Saying the above line, Gandalf strikes the boulder, which is blocking the dawning sun from the trolls, with his staff. The boulder splits open and exposes the trolls to the sun. The trolls turn to stone.
Gandalf is played by Ian McKellen.

Answer: Bilbo

The beginning of the movie finds Bilbo on the morning of his 111th birthday party. His internal ramblings (largely a one-sided conversation with Frodo) serve as an opening narration. He decides that it is time to tell Frodo what really happened and writes the above line (whilst speaking), the first words of his book, "An Unexpected Journey".
The older version of Bilbo is played by Ian Holm.

Answer: In the heart of the mountain

The Arkenstone was found deep in the heart of the Lonely Mountain as dwarves mined for gems. Thror, King Under the Mountain and Thorin's grandfather, took it as a sign as his right to rule and kept it in his throne until the day Smaug came. Then it was lost as the Thror tried to flee the attacking dragon.

Answer: Blacksmith

As Bilbo begins his tale it shows that after Smaug attacked Erebor Thorin took work where he could find it, including being a blacksmith.

Answer: Thranduil

As shown in the beginning of the movie, the great dwarf kingdom of Erebor was visited by Thranduil, the Elven King who, as fans of "LOTR" also know, is also the father of Legolas, who did not make an appearance in the first Hobbit movie.

Elrond, while mentioning that he knew Thror when he ruled under the mountain, did not say how or when he'd met him.

Linder is actually the Elf who met the Company when they first arrived at Rivendell after using the Secret Pass to escape the Orcs.

Answer: Dwalin

Not expecting company so late at night, Bilbo was rather startled to open his door to Dwalin, who was the first of the Company to arrive and introduce himself to the Hobbit.
Balin, Dwalin's brother, arrived shortly after while Fili arrived with his brother, Kili, soon to be followed by the others.

Answer: Gandalf

Gandalf says this to Bilbo after rescuing him and the dwarves from the trolls and exploring the trolls' cave. This is where Glamdring and Orcist are found as well as Sting. Bilbo complains that he has never used a sword before, and Gandalf says that he hopes that Bilbo will never have to, but if he does, then to remember the above quote.

Answer: Frodo & Bilbo (old)

Elijah Wood, the actor for Frodo, and Ian Holm, the actor for the old Bilbo, returned to New Zealand around 10 years after the "Lord of the Rings" filming to film the introductory of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey". The Movie starts with a scene of Bilbo writing in his red book, later seen in the "Lord of the Rings", followed by an interruption that re-introduces Frodo into Middle Earth.

Answer: A skin-changer

Gandalf tells the party that they are in Beorn's home and that he is a skin-changer. He is in fact the bear that had been following them. As a bear he is unpredictable but as a human he can be reasoned with. Beorn remains a bear through the night to protect the party from the Orcs but in the morning he returns to his human form. Although he is not fond of Dwarves he hates Orcs more and helps the group out by lending them his ponies so they can make it to the forest of Mirkwood.

Answer: Dale

After Smaug's attack on Laketown, the survivors gather on the banks of the lake and Bard is recognized as the one who killed the dragon. The people look to him as their leader so he leads them to Dale at the foot of the Lonely Mountain. Prior to Smaug's attack on Erebor many years ago, Dale was a thriving human city that traded freely with the fortress and the Dwarfs. Dale was abandoned after Smaug took over Erebor.

Answer: Bilbo Baggins

The answer is Bilbo Baggins because Frodo is his nephew, which doesn't come into the scene. Remember Bilbo was recalling something that happened 60 years ago. Thorin was the leader of the Dwarves and Gandalf is a wizard.

Answer: Gandalf

As we travel back in time with Bilbo, we find him sitting in front of his house blowing smoke rings. Gandalf approaches and, after some amusing conversation surrounding Bilbo wishing Gandalf a good day, they talk about having known each other before. Trying to stay polite, Bilbo finally asks Gandalf what he wants and Gandalf replies with the above line. Bilbo is adamant that he wants no part of any adventure.
Gandalf is played by Ian McKellen.

Answer: Cheese

After Balin's arrival at Bag End, he and Dwalin are taking stock of Bilbo's pantry while the confused Hobbit is trying to get a word in. He tosses a piece of cheese away because it's "gone blue".

Answer: Balin

As Smaug swept in to attack Erebor and Dale, Thorin told a much younger Balin to sound for the alarms and then explained when pressed that a dragon was attacking.

Answer: Fili and Kili

Two of the younger dwarves in the Company, Fili and Kili arrived soon after Balin and even though not stated openly in the film, Fili and Kili are actually the sons of Thorin's sister, Dis. So they're his nephews and so chose to join his quest to regain the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
Oin and Gloin, while brothers, are in fact distant cousins to Thorin and also distant cousins to Fili and Kili.
Bombur and Bifur are not related to the line of Durin.

Answer: Person 1: Thorin and Person 2: Gandalf

Gandalf has just rescued Bilbo and the dwarves from becoming roast mutton. Bilbo is able to stall for just enough time for Gandalf to split the rock to reveal the sunlight to the trolls, who turn to stone.

Answer: A Butterfly

A wizard standing on the other side of Bilbo's fence uses his power to change Bilbo's smoke ring into a butterfly. The smoke shape then flutters its way back to Bilbo and gets Bilbo to look up once it hits him in the face, leaving a cloud of smoke in front of his face. When Bilbo looks up, he sees a wizard in grey looking down on him. This exchange of looks is followed by a "Good morning" from the hobbit.

Answer: Galadriel

Gandalf notices Black Speech written on an old ruin when they arrive at the forest. At the same time he also receives a telepathic message from Galadriel telling him to go to High Fells of Rhudaur to check on the nine human kings who are buried there. These are the Nazgul or Ringwraiths who figure prominently in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Gandalf leaves the Dwarves and Bilbo telling them to stay on the path and not get lost.

Answer: Radagast

Galadriel shows up to stop an Orc from slaying Gandalf then Elrond and Saruman appear to help her fend off the evil ghosts. Radagast shows up with his sleigh and whisks Gandalf off to safety while the other three prepare to face the ghosts.

Answer: Lonely Mountain

They are heading to the Lonely Mountain. This was the mountain that was shown on the map in the beginning of the movie. This is where the Dragon is with all their treasure.

Answer: Balin

Elrond identifies the swords as being of elven make and mentions the names of each of the two large swords (wielded by Thorin and Gandalf) as well as some of their battle histories. Bilbo's small sword is not given a name. Balin points out that swords are named for their performance in battle. Bilbo asks Balin if he doesn't believe that his sword had done battle and Balin replies with the above lines.
Balin is played by Ken Stott.

Answer: Gandalf

Overwhelmed by the boisterous behaviour of the dwarves who descended uninvited (at least by him), Bilbo complains to Gandalf, who replies with the above line. Although seeming disrespectful of all of Bilbo's things, the dwarves leave everything clean and in perfect condition, except for his larder which they pretty much emptied.
