2. Two of my favourite traditional Maori foods are definitely Kiore with Kanga Pirau. Delicious but what exactly are the ingredients?

Answer: Rat with rotten corn

Kiore are small wild rats that came to Aotearoa-NZ with early Polynesian settlers as early as 13th century, and provided a vital source of winter protein. They are roasted over an open fire or baked in a clay ball. When the clay is cracked open, the hair and tail are left behind and the succulent meat can be picked out.

Kanga pirau are corn kernels that are placed in a bag in a clean, swiftly running river for six weeks or until fermented. Then they are cooked as porridge and served with brown sugar and cream. Both delicacies are still eaten today.

8. My favorite animals to have for pets are cats. What is the rarest breed of cat in the world?

Answer: The Sokoke

Although all four breeds are among the top 20 rarest cats, the Sokoke is considered the rarest. It is a naturally occurring breed as opposed to a breed created by people crossbreeding. The Sokoke is native to the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest Preserve in Kenya, Africa and are very affectionate companions. They have long legs and short coarse fur resembling tabby striped fur.

The Burmilla is a human created breed, the results of crossing the Burmese and the Chinchilla Persian. They are considered to be very affectionate with very soft silver fur, which can be short or semi-long.

The Turkish Angora is another naturally occurring breed which is believed to have originated in the 1700s in Central Anatolia, or ancient Turkey. They have short silky fur which comes in many different color variations.

The LaPerm is the result of a much more recent natural genetic mutation occurring in the 1980s. The mutation resulted in curly fur much like a lamb. They are considered to be great lap cats.

10. Another of my favourite things is Rugby League. Which famous rugby league player had the nickname "Puff"?

Answer: Reg Gasnier

"Puff" the magic dragon was Reg Gasnier who was so named by fans for his electrifying speed from a standing start. He was a member of the great St George team that won eleven straight premierships. This is akin to winning the FA Cup or the Premier League or even the the Super Bowl, eleven consecutive times.

The St George team won 1956 - 1966 inclusive; so great was their dominance that the rules were changed in order to stop their run. Reg Gasnier played for Australia at age of nineteen and represented his country 39 times. I have watched rugby league since I was eleven in 1958 and whilst Gasnier was not my all time favourite player, he is certainly the best I have ever seen.

My all time favourite player was Arthur Beetson.
