1. Chico
A major feature of the city of Chico, in northern California, is the Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, which pays tribute to early pioneers of the area, John and Annie Bidwell. If history isn't your thing there's also a science museum, and even the National Yo-Yo Museum.

4. Centennial
Centennial, Colorado shares its name with the nickname of its state, which acquired it by becoming the 38th state in 1876, the country's centennial year. The city came along much later, being incorporated in 2001 using the name Centennial, which had been chosen by a citizens' vote the year before.
Located in Arapahoe County, at 39°35'47" North, 104°50'38" West, Centennial had a population of just under 110,000 in 2020.
5. Omaha
Omaha is one of the larger cities in the midwestern state of Nebraska, which is known as the Cornhusker State. The city's claims to fame include its meatpacking industry and the resultant steaks, and being a stop on the historical Lewis and Clark Trail.
Situated at 41° 15′ 31″ N, 95° 56′ 15″ W, Omaha sits on the Missouri River near the border with Iowa. In 2020 its population was just under 490,000.
6. Peoria
Peoria, Illinois, is the oldest colonial settlement in that state, having been founded by French explorers in 1691. It has a museum, a sculpture garden and a zoo, and earned its nickname of Whiskey City because at one time, in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it had a combined total of close to 100 breweries and distilleries.

7. Fort Wayne
Fort Wayne, Indiana is home to a number of centres of higher education, including the University of St Francis and the Indiana Institute of Technology. It also boasts a children's zoo, an art museum and is the county seat of Allen County.
It sits in the northeastern part of the state, at 41° 5′ 20″ N, 85° 9′ 41″ W, close to the border with Ohio and had a population of just under 270,000 in 2022.
8. Akron
Akron, Ohio, has a named derived from a Greek word meaning "high", which is fitting as the city is located at the highest point of Summit County, of which it is the county seat. Once known as the Rubber Capital of the World, Akron has an art museum and a university, and is the birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous, having been home to Dr Bob, co-founder with Bill W of AA.

9. Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has long been known as Steel City, because of the dominance of that industry there, even giving its American football team the name Steelers. There's quite a lot more to the city, of course, including a couple of universities, museums (like the one to Andy Warhol), lots of bridges, lots of hills and baseball and hockey teams (as named in the hint).

10. Bridgeport
Bridgeport, Connecticut is located on Long Island Sound, at the mouth of the Pequonnock River. During the First World War the Remington Arms plant was an important munitions supplier. Attractions include the Barnum Museum, with exhibits regarding showman P.T. Barnum, who was a resident of Bridgeport in the nineteenth century, and even, briefly, mayor.
