2. For me, few things beat an autumn-day of foraging for wild mushrooms in the forest. Walking over soft moss and crisp, newly fallen leaves, with the special smell of autumn in your nostrils. Mushrooms which can be eaten are classified according to the UN-endorsed guide "Wild Edible Fungi-a global overview of their use and importance to people" by Eric Boa, into three types, Edible, Good and Excellent. Which one of the following four kind of mushrooms is classified as Excellent and the most delicious to fill your basket with and take home to eat?

Answer: Chanterelle

In Scandinavia and in my native country of Sweden, mushroom picking is a very popular hobby. In the autumn many people - often whole families - take off in their cars with picnic baskets, and will spend the whole day wandering the vast forests foraging for mushrooms. However, you must be quite knowledgeable about what you're going to pick, as there are some Mushrooms that are quite poisonous and a couple that even might be lethal. But with a good mushroom handbook, you can return home in the afternoon with a delicious harvest. The book mentioned in the question is produced by the Food and Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations. There are of course other source books on the subject.
The other mentioned mushrooms are classified as good or edible in the book.

3. I love playing board games with my friends and Trivial Pursuit is one of my favourites. In the original edition of "Trivial Pursuit Master Game Genus Edition 1981," do the yellow questions relate to Geography?

Answer: No

The yellow category questions are on the subject of History and the blue category questions relate to geography.
In December 1979 friends Chris Haney and Scott Abbott sat down to enjoy a game of Scrabble, but not all the letters could be found. They decided to try and invent a game of their own. The first prototype of the Trivial Pursuit game, of which 1100 where produced, was launched in Canada in 1981 and on the sale of each game they stood to lose $60. In 1988 Parker Brothers secured the rights to the game.

4. You're a numismatist (coin collector) and you find a 100-year old dime in your change. It has no visible scratches, but it's all tarnished! How should you clean your dime?

Answer: Don't clean it at all

Unless you're removing dirt from a freshly dug up coin, it's best not to clean it at all. Silver and copper will oxidize, giving them a patina which attests to the age of the coin. If you clean it you will remove any remaining luster, and possibly even scratch the coin.

5. When playing Bridge, what is the standard Stayman call over 1 No Trump?

Answer: 2 Clubs

This is one of the most commonly used conventions in Bridge. The 1 No Trump caller is expected to respond with 2 hearts or 2 spades if they hold 4 or more of those suits, 2 diamonds is the negative response.

6. I like to knit. Knitting is usually done with two needles. When would a knitter use four needles?

Answer: When knitting a tubular item such as a sock

The work piece is on three needles, and the fourth is used to knit. With this technique the knitter can vary the size of the tube, so it's useful for hats as well as socks. I always put rubber bands on the end of my needles to keep the work from slipping off when I'm not knitting.

7. I like to play and watch ten pin bowling. What term, coined by Rob Stone of ESPN, describes four strikes in a row in ten pin bowling?

Answer: hambone

At the beginning of the 2007-2008 PBA bowling season Rob Stone, noting that there was no term for four strikes in a row, except a four-bagger, came up with the term "hambone." What he didn't realize was, that in youth bowling, a hambone is two strikes. However the term has become popular and universally accepted.

8. It won't take you long to know that my favorite hobby is solving crossword puzzles. One of the most well known puzzles is in the "New York Times," but do you know who became the editor of this crossword in 1993 and was still in that position at the end of 2011?

Answer: Will Shortz

Will Shortz holds a bachelor's degree in enigmatology from Indiana University. He is the only known person to have such an honor! Timothy Parker has been the editor of the USA Today Crossword Puzzle since 2003, and is another famous puzzler. Roger Squires is one of the world's most prolific puzzle editors - if you like puzzles you've probably done one of Roger's. Finally, Ximenes is well known for laying down the "rules" for Cryptic Crosswords, a type of puzzle very popular in Britain and in other parts of the world, but which sadly, aren't very common in the United States newspapers!

9. Besides basic painting, I have also tried flower arranging as a hobby. A complex arrangement I would like to make is based on the "Lazy S" design. This specific design was introduced by which English painter?

Answer: William Hogarth

According to Hogarth's theory in aesthetics or art, he considers the curves such as an S-shaped curved line (serpentine) a line of beauty because it denotes liveliness as contrasted with a straight line which denotes stiffness.
Flower arranging techniques include anchoring, armature, banding, binding, radical insertion, collaring, weaving and spiralling.

10. When out walking in the countryside there are basic guidelines which should be observed to ensure your own safety, that of others, and the protection of land and animals. Which of the following is NOT one of the countryside guidelines for walkers?

Answer: Throw any litter and rubbish you have into the nearest hedge

The Countryside Code applies to all parts of the countryside and is basically just common sense. There is a five point code published for the public and a three point code published for land managers. The Countryside Code is published by Natural England but includes Wales. However these are codes which can be applied and are appropriate across the globe when out walking or hiking.
