Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bill came to Sookie at the start of the book to say he'd be heading south. Where was Bill going?

Answer: Peru

Bill came by Sookie's house to say again how sorry he was for the Lorena situation, and to inform her that the queen was sending him to Peru to interview a fellow vampire. Sookie was not very nice to Bill, and they parted company on uncertain terms.
2. Which holiday was celebrated the night Eric turned up in Bon Temps with his memory erased?

Answer: New Year's Eve

Sookie had spent a long night on her feet at Merlotte's. It was three in the morning when she encountered Eric on her drive home. He was running scared, scantily dressed for the cold, and had no idea who either of them were. Sookie calmed him down and drove him back to her house.
3. A dangerous coven of witches was responsible for Eric's memory loss.

Answer: True

A coven had come to Shreveport to take over the vampire businesses. They were very powerful, drank vampire blood, and some were even werewolves! The coven was lead by a male and female, and the female wanted Eric. When he refused her advances, Chow ended up attacking her and causing Eric to lose his memory. Apparently this witch, Hallow, had imbued herself with a spell. If she was attacked, Eric instantly lost his memory and vanished from sight! When this occurred, Eric disappeared from Fangtasia and ended up in Bon Temps. We did not find out right away why it was Bon Temps he was sent to.
4. The dangerous coven was lead by a brother and sister team. Which statement does NOT accurately describe these two?

Answer: The siblings were part fairy

Marnie (aka Hallow) and Mark Stonebrook were leaders of the coven of werewolf vampire blood drinkers. The witch/werewolf/vampire blood attributes made them very powerful, and the came to Shreveport to get revenge. It was another character, Claudine, that turned out to be part fairy. Fairy blood was a strong attractor for vampires, who were left in a trance state if they drank it.
5. Alcide Herveaux introduced Sookie to Colonel Flood. Is it true that Flood was the pack master for Shreveport?

Answer: Yes

Flood was a retired Air Force Colonel and widower. When they drove up to his home he was picking up pine cones out of his yard. They relayed the story about the coven of were-witches to Flood, who in turn told them about his missing second in command Adabelle. Sadly, it turned out that the were-witches had killed her. Flood assured his support and aid in the upcoming fight against the Stonebrooks, and he made Sookie a "friend of the pack".
6. How much money did Jason negotiate as a fee for Sookie hiding Eric in her home?

Answer: $35,000

The coven had put out a $50,000 reward for Eric's capture and Jason felt Sookie deserved as much as that for hiding him. He and Chow negotiated it down to $35,000. Sadly, Jason disappeared after this meeting, adding to Sookie's woes.
7. Sam told Sookie were to find Jason's party date, Crystal Norris. Sam also warned her about the inhabitants of that small town. What was the unique name of Crystal's home town?

Answer: Hotshot

Sookie drove out to Hotshot alone to ask Crystal about Jason. Crystal was not very nice to Sookie until her uncle, Calvin, showed up. Calvin took a quick interest in Sookie (shock shock) and offered to take care of now that she had no man. Sookie was very respectful, but did not encourage Calvin. Crystal offered a small bit of information, but was hiding all that she knew..
8. Eric and Sookie became lovers in book four.

Answer: True

Yes, at long last Sookie turned to Eric. He was not his usual self, of course, but they formed a tight bond very quickly. When he did finally get his memory back, he did not recall their intimate relationship at all. That saddened Sookie, but she knew it was for the best.
9. Which person died during the attack on the coven?

Answer: Chow

The coven had taken up residence in a big commercial building. It was up for lease and had contained a combination florist/bakery. Bubba accompanied Sookie to the location, and she listened in to count the amount of coven members inside. She told Bubba to report back that there were 15 members. When she encountered and overpowered Holly, she found out that three of those were innocents who had been coerced. One of the innocents was killed before Sookie could save her, and Chow was killed as well. Mark Stonebrook also died, and Marnie (Hallow) was taken hostage in order to reverse the spell on Eric.

Earlier, Bill had outed Debbie Pelt and Alcide had abjured her. They both survived the battle, but Debbie died later that evening.
10. After Sookie killed Debbie Pelt, who disposed of her corpse and her vehicle?

Answer: Eric

Debbie was waiting on Eric and Sookie when they returned to Bon Temps. She wanted badly to kill Sookie, and had brought a gun for that very purpose. She fired and Eric took the bullet to save Sookie's life. Sookie reacted rapidly, grabbing the shotgun and annihilating Ms. Pelt once and for all. Sookie cleaned the mess in her kitchen, while Eric buried her body and vanished her car. After Eric's memory returned, he knew nothing of these events. Sookie was questioned about Debbie's disappearance, but she was not suspected to have had anything to do with causing it.

Jason turned up in Hotshot. Felton Norris had hid Jason in his shed in order to attempt to turn him into a shifter. He bit Jason every day he held him, and was planning to wait out the full moon to see if it worked. Felton wanted to turn Jason to make him less attractive to Crystal. Calvin assured Sookie that Felton would be punished, most likely killed, and she promised to leave the Bon Temps police in the dark about what had really occurred. Jason, normally one to spin a tall tale, also kept strictly to his story that he had no memory of what had taken place. I guess we'll have to wait on the moon to see if Jason turned into a were-panther, like the citizens of Hotshot...
