There was a protein in the water there that helped keep people calm. Bobby and his brother Howard (Bow-Wow) isolate the protein, synthesize the protein, and arrange to have a great deal of it transported and loaded into a volcano.

When the volcano erupts, it distributes the protein over the planet and takes effect on people all over the world. Unfortunately, the protein causes Alzheimer's Disease which they do not discover until afterwards.
