Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What gag does Dale do in front of his third grade class the day that he meets Chip?

Answer: Pencil in the eye

The opening scene takes place in 1982 and it depicts Dale entering 3rd grade at a new school. He is standing in front of the class and says "hello" to everyone but no one responds. Then he does a 'pencil in the eye' gag making it look like he had a pencil stuck in his eye. The rest of the class is horrified but Chip later tells Dale that he thought the gag had perfect comic timing.
2. What is the name of the show that Dale signs up to do in the 1990s, without Chip, that fractures their relationship?

Answer: Double-0 Dale

Although "Rescue Rangers" was a popular show, Dale thought that he was second banana to Chip and he desired to be in the spotlight. Without telling Chip about his plans, Dale signs up to star in "Double-0 Dale" in which he is a super spy reminiscent of James Bond. Unfortunately "Double-0 Dale" is cancelled after its pilot episode and "Rescue Rangers" is also cancelled shortly after. Chip is hurt that Dale didn't tell him about his plans to star in a show without him and they end up not talking to each other for decades.
3. Chip and Dale eventually reunite to help an old friend. What procedure has Dale had that makes him look markedly different from Chip?

Answer: CGI surgery

Since they last saw each other, Dale has had CGI (computer generated imagery) surgery and Chip comments to Dale that he looks strange. Chip is depicted like they were in the original "Rescue Rangers" tv show in a hand-drawn 2D animation style. Chip and Dale live in Los Angeles amongst both humans and other animated characters.
4. While Dale has faltered as an actor, Chip has had success in a different line of work. What type of work does Chip do?

Answer: Insurance salesman

Chip sells insurance and he is shown winning 'another' Employee of the Month award. His co-workers have a great deal of respect for him and they try to get him to go out after work with them but he declines. Chip lives with his dog Millie but he is not fulfilled in spite of his success at work.
5. Like dozens of other toons, Monterey Jack is kidnapped by the Valley Gang. What process does the Valley Gang do to the toons in which their appearances are altered and they are shipped overseas to produce movies?

Answer: Bootleg

Monterey Jack calls both Chip and Dale and he tells them that he owes the Valley Gang money and if he doesn't pay up they are going to bootleg him. Chip and Dale vow to help Monterey Jack but after they leave his residence he gets kidnapped by the Valley Gang.

The most recent toon to be kidnapped before Monterey Jack was Flounder (a fish from "The Little Mermaid" movie) who has his mouth erased for bootlegged movies that he is forced to do.
6. The leader of the Valley Gang that has been kidnapping toons is known as Sweet Pete. What was Sweet Pete known as when he was younger?

Answer: Peter Pan

The Valley Gang is led by Sweet Pete who was known as Peter Pan as a youth. It is explained in the film that after Peter Pan started to age and grow facial hair he was no longer able to get film roles. This angers him and he turns to a life of crime as Sweet Pete, where he primarily kidnaps toons and makes bootleg movies. Sweet Pete/Peter Pan's first bootleg movie is called "Flying Bedroom Boy".

A polar bear named Jimmy and a Viking dwarf named Bob are Sweet Pete's henchmen.
7. How do Chip and Dale pinpoint the location of Sweet Pete's warehouse?

Answer: They steal his steptracker.

In order to find Monterey Jack, Chip and Dale start asking questions to Mr Bjornson who sells cheese but is also an accomplice of Sweet Pete. Bjornson transports Chip and Dale in a truck to Sweet Pete's warehouse and Dale notices that Sweet Pete has the same steptracker that he does.

After Chip and Dale escape the warehouse they infiltrate a sauna that Sweet Pete goes to and they steal his steptracker from his locker. The steptracker shows them and Detective Steckler that Sweet Pete's warehouse is located in the San Pedro Docks.
8. What body part of both Chip and Monterey Jack gets altered, causing them to be called Snoopy and Dumbo?

Answer: Ear

Monterey Jack gets bootlegged and he is altered to have two huge ears reminiscent of the elephant Dumbo. Chip is not fully bootlegged but one of his ears ends up getting altered to look like the ear of the dog Snoopy from "Peanuts". By the end of the film both Monterey Jack and Chip have their ears restored back to normal.
9. In whose office does Dale smell Monterey Jack's "Rescue Rangers" cologne?

Answer: Captain Putty

Chip and Dale comment that the "Rescue Rangers" cologne smells like almond butter and gasoline and that no one wears it other than Monterey Jack. They are surprised that the distinct "Rescue Rangers" cologne smell is coming from Police Captain Putty's office. Dale believes that Captain Putty is working with Sweet Pete but Chip says that would be too obvious and cliche.

In the end Dale is right and Putty, voiced by the iconic J. K. Simmons, has been receiving money from Sweet Pete and aiding his criminal enterprise.
10. What are the names of Chip and Dale's friends and former co-stars that help them rescue Monterey Jack by breaking into Sweet Pete's warehouse?

Answer: Gadget and Zipper

The original "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers" tv show aired between 1989 and 1990 and 65 episodes were released. Chip and Dale were assisted by a pilot/mechanic named Gadget and a housefly named Zipper. Along with Monterey Jack the group of five rescued those in need and frequently battled against two villains known as Fat Cat and Norton Nimnul.

In the 2022 film "Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers", Gadget and Zipper help propel/crash Dale into Sweet Pete's warehouse with a rocket that knocks out the power at the facility. They eventually subdue Sweet Pete and are able to free the dozens of toons that had been bootlegged by him.
