Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A merry camp high

Answer: American Pie

'American Pie' was made in 1999 and is a bawdy comedy about four high-school seniors who make a secret pact. It stars Jason Biggs, Jennifer Coolidge and Shannon Elizabeth.
The screenplay, by Adam Herz, was originally titled: "Untitled Teenage Sex Comedy That Can Be Made For Under $10 Million That Most Readers Will Probably Hate But I Think You Will Love".
It was, in fact, made for US$11 million, and made US$235 million in box office sales worldwide.
2. Thin glitch pays shunt

Answer: The English Patient

'The English Patient' was released in 1996. The film stars Ralph Fiennes (of 'Skyfall', 'No time to Die', 'The Kings Man', and 'Schindler's List' fame), and Juliette Binoche. A supporting cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, Willem Dafoe, and Colin Firth. Set in Italy in the last days of WWII, it follows the relationship between a young Canadian nurse, and the very badly burned crash victim she is tasked with looking after.
The injured man has no ID and is burnt so badly he is unrecognisable. Not knowing anything about him at all, other than that he has a British accent, the staff refer to him as simply 'The English Patient'.
Among its many awards, the film won 9 Academy Awards, 5 BAFTA awards and 2 Golden Globes.
3. Brew sore my tea

Answer: Bruce Almighty

"Bruce Almighty" is a 2003 fantasy-comedy movie starring Jim Carrey and Morgan Freeman. Jim Carrey, a TV reporter, becomes infuriated at injustices done to him and so contacts God on 776-xxxx, insisting on an explanation. God (Morgan Freeman) decides to let Carrey run the world for a bit, to see how he likes it.

An interesting fact is that a man in Manchester, England was forced to field phone calls when viewers of the film mistakenly thought the 776-xxxx number would actually connect them to God. Another man, in the US, had the same problem, but was impacted more heavily because he was a Minister at an North Carolina church and his name was Bruce!
For this reason, the producers changed the number when it was released on video to 555 0123, a completely fictitious number.

4. Kept infill laps

Answer: Captain Phillips

'Captain Phillips' is a 2013 movie starring Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi. It is based on a true story - a hijacking of a ship called the MV Maersk Alabama - that occurred in 2009.
To give more credibility to the roles played by Tom Hanks and his fellow crew members, the producers didn't let them see the Somali actors until they physically stormed the ship for the 'take'. When Tom Hanks was interviewed later, he said they were the 'scariest, skinniest human beings he'd ever laid eyes on'.
5. Be dull dews

Answer: Beetlejuice

'Beetlejuice' was directed by Tim Burton and starred Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin. A comedy/horror movie, it was released in 1988. The movie was named after a star, Betelgeuse, which is in the Orion constellation.
The plot revolves around a recently deceased couple who, as ghosts, haunt their former home and in particular, the new owners, the Deetz family. When the ghosts aren't entirely successful, they call for help from Beetlejuice, a devious and horrid bio-exorcist.
Beetlejuice, incidentally, only appears in 17.5 minutes of the 92-minute film.
6. On calls ham

Answer: Uncle Sam

'Uncle Sam' was a film made in 1991 which starred Bo Hopkins, Timothy Bottoms and Robert Forster. This movie comes under the genre of a 'slasher film/black comedy'. The plot sees a Vietnam vet called Sam (who was killed by friendly fire in Vietnam), rise from the grave back in his hometown and then proceed to kill those citizens he considers unpatriotic.

The promotional posters for the film showed a (rather scary) man pointing towards the camera (in the style of the old WWI U.S. enlistment posters) with the words "Uncle Sam. We Want You... Dead!"
7. Jury ma choir

Answer: Jerry Maguire

'Jerry Maguire,' made in 1996, stars Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger, and is a comedy-romance. The storyline is relatively simple: after sports agent Jerry Maguire is fired from his job, he goes out alone to try and represent as many sports stars as he can, and, along the way, he finds love. The quotes: "You had me at hello," "Show me the money!" and "You complete me," are all courtesy of this movie.

Interestingly, Tom Cruise's role was meant for Tom Hanks, but it took so long for the screenplay to be finished (4 years), Tom Hanks had moved on to directing and was closer to 40 years-old, than 35!
8. Purse sway shone

Answer: Persuasion

"Persuasion," starring Dakota Johnson and Cosmo Jarvis, was released in 2022. The film is loosely based on Jane Austen's book of the same name, but has much more modern overtones. Essentially a love story, this film is about second chances.
"Persuasion" was Austen's last completed novel and was printed posthumously when Austen died at 41.
9. Won sup honour die ming holy ward

Answer: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' a 2019 movie directed by Quentin Tarantino, has an insane all-star cast. Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Damien Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, Kurt Russell and Burt Reynolds are just a few of the cast! I don't want to spoil the storyline for anyone, so all I will say is that it's set in late-60's America, and that Tarantino takes a tragic real-life story and gives it a very different ending.
10. Myrrh dermis tree

Answer: Murder Mystery

'Murder Mystery,' stars Jennifer Aniston, Adam Sandler and Luke Evans. It was released in 2019. Written by James Vanderbilt, it is a comedy-mystery about a couple who meet a millionaire, get invited on a yacht, think they are the luckiest people on the planet... and then people start dying.
Interesting fact: Jackie Sandler, who Adam Sandler married in 2003, is the flight attendant on the plane at the beginning of the movie.
