One of the things they must do is summon the Invisible Swordsman. Each of them read off a strange mantra then shoot their guns in the air.

When Dusty's turn comes, he says the mantra but shoots his gun sideways, thus accidentally killing the Invisible Swordsman.

While doing the dishes, Hanna accidentally dumps the turtle down the garbage disposal. Hanna then goes to a local pet store to try and buy a replacement turtle before her kids get home.

At the beginning of the film, Navin is narrating and starts by saying "I was born a poor black child." Navin is a white man living with a poor black family in the rural South. When he comes to be a man, his mother tells him that he was actually found on the doorstep and she raised him as if he was her own. When he is told that there is a person shooting toward him, Navin thinks the maniac hates cans.

Harry Flugelman owns the movie company that produces the "Three Amigos" silent films. When Lucky, Dusty, and Ned demand more money, Harry fires them, takes their clothes, and puts them out in the street.
