The sign in the background in the pool area says Yancy Academy. Percy doesn't like his school at all; he does mention that he would rather stay under water all day than go to his classes. In the book they don't really refer to Yancy Academy that much but there is one part, at the beginning, where they are on a field trip.

In the book Mr. Brunner actually throws Riptide to Percy (his ball point pen is actually a sword) and he kills her. The Furies are the monsters that do all of Hades' dirty work outside of the underworld. In the movie you only see her once and then she flies away.

In the book she is actually the permanent math teacher and, after Percy kills her, she is replaced with Mrs. Kerr. In the movie she asks Percy a question in the classroom that he doesn't know the answer to. She is not replaced because she is only a substitute. Mrs. Dodds takes Percy away from the rest of his class on the field trip to ask where Zeus' master lighting bolt is.

The bolt is a main plot item. Percy, Annabeth and Grover are on a quest to tell Hades he didn't steal the bolt, so he can get his mother back.

Percy looks up and sees the sign in Greek and translates, in his mind, back into English. Percy isn't very good at reading English because he has dyslexia and his mind is hardwired to read ancient Greek.

The letters change from Greek to English when Percy reads the sign. This is where the dyslexia thing comes in. It looks like the letters just rearrange themselves but you can actually see them changing.

As Percy and Grover are going up the steps to the museum, you see Percy's dad staring at him and you hear his voice telling Percy something. Percy turns around and sees a man staring at him but the a bus goes by and he disappears.

Grover dances to the song "Poker Face" and Percy is refusing the Lotus Flowers and walking into the room with the pearl when "Tik Tok" plays. "Poker Face" is performed by Lady Gaga, who has also performed the songs "Alejandro" and "Paparazzi". "Tik Tok" is performed by Ke$ha who has also performed "Blah, Blah, Blah" and "Your Love Is My Drug".

When Percy, Annabeth and Grover are entering the underworld, one of the letters of the Hollywood sign has a little sentence in ancient Greek on it. You then see the words translate to "woe to all depraved souls".

Answer: His father tells him to, in his mind.

Percy's father's voice comes in his head and he tells him to put down the flower and concentrate. He says the flower clouds the mind so you will want to stay forever.

Answer: In Percy's Shield

In the book it's actually hidden in Percy's backpack. The backpack that Ares gives to Percy, Annabeth, and Grover after they return his shield to him. In the movie, when the three of them are in Hades' castle, he throws down the shield in excitement to see his mother and a part of the shield comes off and the bolt is hidden in there.
