Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Little Deuce Coupe'

Answer: Beach Boys

The song was a 1963 release for the Beach Boys, from the album of the same name. The 'coupe' in the title refers to the make of the car, a Ford Coupe from 1932. Deuce means '2', and the '32 Ford is a very popular car to turn into a hot-rod. Richard Dreyfuss's character, Curt Henderson drove a yellow one in the movie 'American Graffiti', and Bruce Springsteen mentions it in his 1973 hit 'Blinded By The Light'.
2. 'With a Little Bit of Luck'

Answer: Stanley Holloway

One of the many songs from the perennial favourite musical, 'My Fair Lady', it was sung by Eliza's father, Alfred, and talks about his optimistic view of the future, even though he is a lowly dustman. After Henry Higgins transforms Eliza into a lady, her dad became a middle-class toff, but still retained his lower-class habits.

He also sang 'Get Me to the Church on Time', when he was on a drinking spree before his impending nuptials with Eliza's mother.
3. 'Come a Little Bit Closer'

Answer: Jay and the Americans

Released in 1964, it tells the story of a flirty girl, who has a very nasty boyfriend. Jay Trantor was the original singer but was replaced by Jay Black in 1962.
The group also had a Top Ten hit with the 1968 release of 'This Magic Moment'.
4. 'Little Things'

Answer: One Direction

The UK boy-band released the song from their 2012 album, 'Take Me Home'. It was a Top Ten song on many national charts, The co-authors of the song were Fiona Bevan and superstar Ed Sheeran.

There have been several songs with the same name- Bobby Goldsboro in 1964, Ziggy Ramo in 2021, Good Charlotte in 2000, ABBA on their 2021 album, Jessica Mauboy in 2019, and more.
5. 'Little Sister'

Answer: Elvis Presley

'(Marie's the Name) His Latest Flame' was the flip-side of the 1961 single for the King. Both songs were Top Ten hits, on both sides of the Atlantic.
6. 'Little Willy'

Answer: The Sweet

'Little Willy' would probably be considered 'bubblegum' rock, with rather childish lyrics. It does have rather a boppy beat, though. It was released in 1973, and led into The Sweet becoming one of the best Glam rock bands in the 1970s. I saw them in concert in 1976, and it is one of the best concerts I have ever attended.
7. 'Every Little Thing She Does is Magic'

Answer: The Police

The trio of Sting, Andy Summers, Stewart Copeland along with guest keyboard player, Jean Alain Roussel, put this song in the Top Ten around the world in 1981.

It is a tale of unrequited love and was the first single taken from the album 'Ghost in the Machine'.
8. 'A Little Ray of Sunshine'

Answer: Axiom

Axiom was an Australian band who only existed from 1969-71, led by the stalwart Brian Cadd. Glenn Shorrock was also in the band - he went on to found the Little River Band.

'A Little Ray of Sunshine' is about the birth of a baby girl, but there is some dispute about who she is. It was honoured in 1988 when Australia Post issued a postage stamp featuring the song and the band.
9. 'A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You'

Answer: The Monkees

This Number One hit was released in 1967 and was the third hit by the British/American group, after 'Last Train to Clarkesville' and 'I'm a Believer'. It was written by Neil Diamond, but never recorded by him - a pity, as he is one of my favourite singers.
10. 'Say a Little Prayer'

Answer: Dionne Warwick

Written by the amazing team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, it was a 1967 hit for soul diva, Dionne Warwick. The following year, another superstar, Aretha Franklin, covered it, and took it back into Top Ten territory.
