The Primitives first formed in 1984 in Coventry, England. They disbanded in 1992 after the poor showing of their 1991 album "Galore". They reformed seventeen years later, but without one of their founding members Steve Dullaghan who passed away the year before.

Their first album "Lovely", released in 1988, reached sixth place on the UK album charts and the lead single "Crash" reached fifth place on the UK Singles chart and third place on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart. Hurricane Irma was a Category 5 hurricane which made landfall in Florida on September 10th, 2017. Over six and a half million people were evacuated, practically a third of the state's population. The Marlins/Braves game took place two days prior. An official from the Braves gave an apology to a "Miami Herald" writer, stating that the song was part of the Braves playlist when playing at home. This is not the first time the song caused controversy.
