Answer: Manfred Mann

Formed in 1962, the British band named Manfred Mann had three albums - and fifteen top twenty singles - on the UK charts. Their single "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" was a number one hit in 1964, and the same year "Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble" reached number eleven. "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" was also a number one hit on the US, Swedish and Canadian charts.
After the band broke up in 1969, the group's keyboardist, Manfred Mann, went on to create the group called Manfred Mann's Earth Band.

Perhaps one of the most skilled artists as far as reinvention is concerned, David Bowie has been entertaining and amazing audiences since his initial success with 1969's "Space Oddity". His following albums - "Hunky Dory" in 1971, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" in 1972, and "Aladdin Sane" and "Pin Ups" in 1973 made him a household name.
He has had many successful singles, including 1974's "Rebel Rebel" and "Knock on Wood".

Answer: The Rolling Stones

Since The Rolling Stones' inception in 1962, the English rock band has released over a hundred singles and more than 75 albums.
Their music has been included in numerous films, including "Paint it Black" in 1987's "Full Metal Jacket" and "Street Fighting Man" in 2006's "V for Vendetta" (during the end credits).
When 1965's "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" first came out in the UK, it was thought to be too risque, and was only played by pirate stations. It went on to reach number one on the UK charts, and be ranked as one of the best rock songs ever recorded. "Tumbling Dice" - the first single from the album titled "Exile on Main St." - reached number five on the UK charts, and number seven on the US charts.

Originally a psychedelic rock band, Traffic's style evolved over the years to include other styles, including jazz and folk. The band had a somewhat rocky history after first being formed in 1967 by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason.

They had a number of hits, including 1967's "Hole in My Shoe" and "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush". After several changes - including disbanding and changes in the band's lineup - they disbanded again in 1975. In 1994 they had a partial reunion and joined The Grateful Dead on their summer tour.

Cat Stevens excelled in school as an artist, and at one point considered becoming a cartoonist, but he ultimately decided to pursue a career in music. While his initial intent was to become a songwriter, in 1966 he caught the interest of a manager/producer and his future included not just writing, but also performing. He has released several singles that charted well in the UK - and the US - including 1971's "Peace Train" and 1974's "Another Saturday Night".

He has also recorded songs for specific films, and had his songs included in other films. And, his song "Tea for The Tillerman" was the theme song for the BBC/HBO sitcom "Extras" (2005-2007).

Founded in 1964, The Who consisted of Roger Daltry, Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Pete Townshend. Daltry and Townshend have remained members of the band, but Moon died in 1978 and Entwistle died in 2002. Other members have included John Bundrick, Zak Starkey, Simon Townshend (Pete's younger brother), Pino Palladino, and several others. Known for their extravagant shows, they have racked up numerous awards and were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. Just a few of their top ten hit singles in the UK include 1965's "My Generation", 1971's "Won't Get Fooled Again", and 1975's "Squeeze Box". "Pinball Wizard" reached position number four on the UK chart, and "Tommy", The Who's fourth album, reached number two.

Petula Clark's career began when she was seven - when she sang with an orchestra in a department store entrance in 1939. During World War II she performed in shows entertaining the troops - often touring with Julie Andrews.
For more than 70 years Petula Clark has acted, composed and performed, and garnered acclaim and awards - including being awarded CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 1998. Besides "Don't Sleep in the Subway", her hits include 1961's "Sailor" and 1964's "Downtown".

Dusty Springfield's recordings include numerous chart successes. Just a few of her hits include 1963's "I Only Want to Be with You", 1966's "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and 1968's "I Close My Eyes and Count to Ten".

With his raspy voice and distinctive style, Rod Stewart has won numerous awards, including 1993's Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music and 2006's induction into the UK Music Hall of Fame. And, in 2007, he was awarded CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
During his younger years, while seeking fame and fortune in the music world, he had several different jobs, including stints as a newspaper delivery boy, sign writer, fence builder, grave digger and footballer. After joining several different groups, and not finding success or happiness, his first big break came in 1967 when he joined the Jeff Beck Group. In 1969, Stewart released his first solo album, "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down", and while it achieved moderate success, it was 1971's "Every Picture Tells a Story" that put him squarely in the public eye.
Since then, he has had multiple hit songs, including 1977's "The First Cut Is the Deepest", 1982's "Baby Jane" and 1991's "Rhythm of My Heart". His recordings have landed him a place on the list of best-selling music artists.
