Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which artist sang the song 'Obviously', which included the words: "Put it behind me, go to a place where she can't find me"?

Answer: McFly

This is McFly's second single after '5 Colours in Her Hair'. 'Obviously' went straight to number one on the 'Official Chart Show' and was released as the second single from the band's debut album 'Room on the 3rd Floor' in 2004.
2. Emma Bunton, who sang the song 'Maybe' is a former member of which band?

Answer: The Spice Girls

Ex-Spice Girl, Emma Bunton, began bringing out new singles as Emma. Out of all of the Spice Girls, she has had the most successful solo music career. The Spice Girls were formed through advertised auditions. 'Maybe', as with most of Bunton's work, fits in the 'sophisticated bubblegum pop' genre.
3. Which British band sang, 'Then you whispered in my ear, the words that I long to hear, I want you to thrill me here'?

Answer: Busted - 'Air Hostess'

British pop-punk band Busted, who hailed from Southend-on-Sea in Essex, released the song 'Aot Hostess' in 2004. The song was written by the band members James Bourne, Matt Willis, and Charlie Simpson, along with Tom Fletcher from McFly. This catchy song reached number two on the UK Singles Chart.
4. Who, originally from New Zealand, wrote the music and words of the 2004 song 'Single'?

Answer: Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha, Daniel Bedingfield's sister, is originally from New Zealand. Including the lyrics: "Don't need to be on somebody's arm to look good", 'Single' is a song about independence and self-confidence, celebrating the freedom of being single. It reached the top ten on the UK Singles Chart.
5. The Keane song, 'Somewhere Only We Know' was covered in 2011 by the cast of which popular television program?

Answer: Glee

'Somewhere Only We Know' was from Keane's debut album, Hopes and Fears (2004). It was covered by the Glee cast in Season 2, Episode 18, entitled "Born This Way." Performed as a farewell when Kurt Hummel (played by Chris Colfer) transferred back to McKinley High School, it was sung by Blaine Anderson (Darren Criss) and the Dalton Academy Warblers.

The song was also covered by Lily Allen and American Idol runner-up David Archuleta.
6. Which of the following songs was NOT on Franz Ferdinand's self-titled debut album?

Answer: Ferdinando

Formed in Glasgow in 2002, Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish rock band. The alliteration of the name of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand inspired the band's name. The album 'Franz Ferdinand' won the Mercury Music Prize in 2004, and was nominated for Best Alternative Album at the 2005 Grammy Awards.

I made up the wrong alternative; as far as I know there is actually no song with that name!
7. Whose single, 'See it in a Boy's Eyes, from her album 'Thank You' includes the lyrics: '"What's a girl like me to do, when she don't mean a thing to you"?

Answer: Jamelia

Jamelia was born in Birmingham and teamed up with Cold Play's Chris Martin to write the song. Martin played the piano for the recording, released in 2003, and also contributed background vocals. Jamelia stated the song is "about a relationship where someone doesn't speak about having a problem and you can see that they're upset but they're just not talking."
8. What energetic Liberty-X song has the line "Where the music takes me, who knows?"?

Answer: Jumpin'

Liberty X became known from their appearance on the ITV talent search show 'Popstars' in 2001. The band was originally known as Liberty until they lost a legal case to another American band of the same name. 'Jumpin' was released in 2003, and peaked at number six on the UK Singles Chart.
9. What was the name of the 2003 Big Brovaz song with the lyrics 'Baby girl, you're my world, my everything'?

Answer: Baby Boy

Big Brovaz lost band member Andre Barracks (aka Flawless), and covered the song 'Thank You (Falletin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)' for the soundtrack of the movie 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed', all in less than a year.

The song, 'Baby Boy', reached number two on the UK Hip Hop/R&B chart, and was the band's third top-10 hit on the Australian Singles Chart.
10. Released in April 2004, who hit the road to success singing the lyrics, 'We cannot have that behaviour in this establishment'?

Answer: The Streets - 'Fit But You Know It'

'Fit But you Know It' was the first single to be released from the The Streets' second studio album 'A Grand Don't Come for Free', reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart.
