1. Who had a hit with the song "G.T.O."?

Answer: Ronnie and the Daytonas

"G.T.O." was a top four hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964 for Ronnie and the Daytonas. Ronnie is actually lead singer John Wilkin who wrote the song. A GTO was a model of Pontiac touring car released in the early 1960s.

2. The Beatles used various transport in their songs. Which airline did they use in the song "Back In The U.S.S.R."?

Answer: B.O.A.C

"Flew in from Miami beach B.O.A.C/Didn't get to bed last night" was a lyric from "Back In The U.S.S.R." which was track one on side one of The Beatles' 1968 UK double album "The Beatles" (The White Album).

"Back In The U.S.S.R." was written by Paul McCartney but credited to Lennon/McCartney. It is a parody of Chuck Berry's "Back in the U.S.A." and The Beach Boys' "California Girls". It was released as a single in the UK and peaked at number 19 on the UK Singles Chart in 1976.

Only three of The Beatles were at the final recording as Ringo had walked out on the group after Paul McCartney had critisised his drumming. The drumming was created from previous takes of the song.

From the album "Pleasure Principle". Gary Numan went on to influence many other artists including Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. Both Nissan and Oldsmobile have used this song in ads in the past.

Answer: Motorcycle

The song is from Richard's album "Rumor and Sigh". The British Motorcycle is very rare indeed. It was built from 1948-1952. At the time it was claimed to be the fastest motorcycle in the world. Just over 30 were ever built.

6. What kind of vehicle is the SR-N4 (nicknamed the Super-Noiseless), featured in a humourous song in 1969 by a group named The Island Folk, from the Isle of Wight, in the UK?

Answer: Hovercraft

"The Hovercraft" was written by Lauri Say, who was a London-born singer-songwriter who made his home on the Isle of Wight. This inspired the name of his group The Island Folk and also the name of the EP released in 1969, "Songs for Singing Islanders". His brand of melody and humour ensured he and his songs remained popular, especially in folk clubs, until his death in 2010.

Sir Christopher Sydney Cockerell CBE RDI FRS (4 June 1910 - 1 June 1999) who was an English engineer, invented the hovercraft.

7. Which form of transport did The Mixtures use to get to the top of the chart in Australia?

Answer: Pushbike

"The Pushbike Song" written by Idris and Evan Jones was number one in Australia and New Zealand. It peaked at number two in the UK, number three in Ireland, number 31 in Canada and number 44 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1971.

The Mixtures had already had a number one hit in Australia with a cover version of Mungo Jerry's song "In The Summertime" which "The Pushbike Song" is very similar to. Mungo Jerry recorded a cover version of "The Pushbike Song" in 1990.

The Mixture's only other Top Ten hit in Australia was "Captain Zero" which peaked at number six in 1971.

"Hot Rod Lincoln", recorded in 1955 by Charlie Ryan, then again in 1960 by Johnny Bond. Both these versions charted on the Billboard Country and Hot 100 charts.
The best selling version was in 1971 by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen. This version reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. The song tells the story of a race between a Lincoln and Cadillac, which predictably ends with the Lincoln driver being arrested.

"Magic Bus" was written by Pete Townshend, it peaked at number 26 on the UK Singles Chart for The Who in 1968. It peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 the same year.

The song was written in 1965 but not recorded by The Who until 1968. However the song was recorded in 1967 by the British group Pudding but was not a hit.
