1. What American Leaguer won the 2003 Home Run Derby?

Answer: Garret Anderson

The others listed were National Leaguers, and only Pujols played in the Derby, who went to the finals against Anderson. Anderson, in his 10th season all with the Angels, showed his stuff to win the 2003 crown.
2. What Yankee pitcher, led the team in 2002 with the most wins?

Answer: David Wells

Wells was the only Yankee pitcher listed. David went 19-7 to lead the pinstripes. Mike Mussina was 18-10 as the team's runner-up.
3. What Hall of Fame catcher had the nickname "Gabby"?

Answer: Charles Hartnett

The others listed were not catchers. Charles Leo "Gabby" Hartnett, played all but 64 games of his 20 season career, with the Chicago Cubs. He was the Cub man from 1922-1941. He was the 1935 National League MVP. Gabby also went to 4 World Series, but lost them all. He was inducted into the Hall in 1955. Ironically, he died on his 72nd birthday on 20th December, 1972.

Answer: Rickey Henderson

Although the others did set stolen base records, Henderson blew them away in 1982 with the Oakland Athletics. In 25 seasons in the Majors entering the 2003 season, he made 13 moves around the Majors. His 13th move was the Los Angeles Dodgers, in which he signed a contract on 15th July, 2003.
6. What team appeared in 8 World Series in the 1950's?

Answer: New York Yankees

The other teams never appeared in even 1 Series in the 1950's. The Yankees ruled the decade with 8 appearances, winning 6 of them, including 3 downings against the Brooklyn Dodgers.
7. In what year did the New York Yankees begin in the Major Leagues?

Answer: 1913

The franchise prior to being named the Yankees, was the New York Highlanders from 1903-1912. The Yankees won 6 American League pennants and 3 World Series from 1921-1928. These were compliments of Babe Ruth and company.

Answer: Tony Gwynn

The others listed, batted at least .401 in a season. Tony came close with the Padres in 1994, by batting .394. Gwynn played his entire career with San Diego from 1982-2001, and led the league in batting 8 times. He retired with a .338 average.
9. Yogi Berra played 19 seasons in the Majors, and all but 4 games with what team?

Answer: Yankees

Berra retired in 1963 as a Yankee, but came back in 1965, and played in 4 games as a Met. Yogi won 3 American League MVP's as a Yankee.

The Rockies began their Major League franchise in 1993. Entering the 2003 season, they had not won a Division or 90 games in a season.
