1. The California Angels, who became the Anaheim Angels in 1997, began their franchise name as what?

Answer: Los Angeles Angels

From the new expansion Angels under the helm of Bill Rigney in 1961, to the California Angels in 1965, they became the Anaheim Angels in 1997 under the management of Terry Collins. The Angels' first World Series appearance was in 2002, where they beat the San Francisco Giants 4 games to 3.
2. The great Satchel Paige won how many games in the Major Leagues?

Answer: 28

Satchel unofficially won over 2500 games in the Negro Leagues, before joining the Majors in 1948, at the age of 41 with the Cleveland Indians. He retired the following season and then came back in 1951 as a St. Louis Brown, winning 18 games over 3 seasons, then retired again.

As a publicity stunt in 1958, he came out of retirement and started a game as a Kansas City Athletic in 1965, going 3 innings and giving up only 1 hit at the age of 58. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.
3. With what team did Mickey Mantle RETIRE?

Answer: New York Yankees

The 'Commerce Comet' as he was nicknamed, played his entire career in the pinstripes from 1951-1968. In his final season he hit 18 home runs, and was already a member of the 500 club, by hitting 536 home runs. Mickey went to 12 World Series hitting 18 home runs.

He won 3 season MVP's throughout his career. He was an all-star from 1952 to 1968, missing the 1966 season ballot. He died in 1995 in Dallas.

The others listed were brother combinations. Griffey Sr. won the award in 1980 with the Cincinnati Reds, and Jr. won it in 1992 with the Mariners.

Although all these teams existed in 1901 in the newly formed American League, there was no World Series. The first World Series was held in 1903. The Chicago White Sox won the American League pennant in 1901, 4 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox.

McGwire smacked 70 home runs in 1998, breaking Roger Maris' record of 61 in 1961. Sosa hit 66 in 1998, but was over-shadowed by the Cardinal McGwire. Bonds broke McGwire's record in 2001, by hitting 73 big ones with the Giants.

Answer: Brian Lawrence

Lawrence was the only Padre listed. His whimsical record of 12-12, help lead the team to a record of 66-96, 5th place in the National League Western Division. The only other Padre to win 10 or more games was Brett Tomko, who went 10-10.

The others listed never played for the Indians, and had retired well before 1995. Belle also played 2 seasons for the White Sox and Orioles before he retired in 2000, at the age of 33. He hit a career total of 381 home runs, great for 12 seasons. His greatest all-around season was in 1998, when he hit 49 home runs, had 200 hits, and batted .328.

He was 8th in voting for the MVP voting that season.
9. What team played their home games at Dodger Stadium in the 2002 season?

Answer: Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers had been there since 1962, when the stadium was called Chavez Ravine. Walter O'Malley brought the Dodgers from Brooklyn in 1957. Dodger Stadium was the first privately financed baseball stadium built, since Yankee Stadium in 1923. This stadium in Los Angeles was also shared by the Los Angeles Angels for 3 seasons until 1965.
10. What pitcher holds the 20th century record, for walking 208 batters in a season?

Answer: Bob Feller

None of the others listed were pitchers. The amazing Bob Feller walked 208 batters in 1938 with the Cleveland Indians. Nolan Ryan was the 20th century runner-up, by walking 204 in 1977 with the Angels, the same season that Nolan was 19-16, with 341 strikeouts.
