Bonds won his as a Giant all consecutive from 2001-2004. Pujols of the Cardinals won his in 2005, 2008, and 2009. Albert was also runner-up for the MVP in 2002, 2003, 2006, and 2010. All this occurred in Pujols' first 10 seasons.
2. Which was the first season that fans experienced the League Championship Series playoffs?

Answer: 1969

The American and National Leagues both split into East and West divisions in 1969. The first ALCS saw the Orioles win over the Twins. The NLCS saw the Mets down the Braves. The Mets won the World Series over the Orioles.
3. In 1974, Hank Aaron tied Babe Ruth's career home run record of 714 on Opening Day. What made this event even more remarkable?

Answer: It was Aaron's first swing of the season

The home run was hit on April 4 off Cincinnati pitcher Jack Billingham in the first inning. The Reds would still win the game 7-6 in Cincinnati. After returning to Atlanta for their first homestand, Hank would hit the record-breaking number 715 on April 8, off Dodger pitcher Al Downing.
4. Which of these 2010 baseball franchises never changed their team name or city throughout the entire 20th century?

Answer: Cardinals

The Cardinals franchise began in 1882 as the St. Louis Brown Stockings in the American Association. They shortened their name to Browns in 1883. They joined the National League in 1892 with that name, then changed it for one season in 1899 to the St. Louis Perfectos.

They began the century as the St. Louis Cardinals. The Indians were the Blues, Bronchos, and Naps before settling on the Indian name in 1915. The Yankees began as the Baltimore Orioles, then the New York Highlanders. The Yankee name came in 1913.

The Athletics began their endeavors in 1901 as the Philadelphia Athletics. They moved to Kansas City before settling down in Oakland in 1968.
5. Which decade saw the American League embarrass the National League in an All-Star game, 12-0?

Answer: 1940s

The first All-Star Game wasn't played until 1933. On July 9, 1946, the American League set many All-Star Game records, in addition to the largest margin of victory. The American League banged out 14 hits, while pitchers Bob Feller, Hal Newhouser, and Jack Kramer combined for a three-hitter against the Nationals. Ted Williams hit two home runs in the game, and would have received MVP honors, but the All-Star MVP was not presented until 1962.
6. Willie Keeler of the National League Baltimore Orioles set a season record by hitting 206 singles in the 1898 season. Who broke his record 106 years later in 2004?

Answer: Ichiro Suzuki

Keeler had 215 hits in the season, with seven doubles, one triple, and one home run. Ichiro of the Mariners broke one of those records that seemed untouchable in 2004. Of his 262 hits, which also set a record, 225 were singles, 24 were doubles, five triples, and eight home runs.
7. Whether on the basepaths or at home plate, who was the first player in history to be called 'out' 10,000 times in their career?

Answer: Pete Rose

The others never topped the 7500-mark. One might figure that the one with the most career plate appearances would at least be in the running for this record. With 15,861 times walking up to home plate, Rose retired with 10,328 outs in his career. In 125 years of professional baseball dating back to 1871, Rose was the only player to reach 10,000 outs.
8. The 20th century saw one Opening Day no-hitter thrown. Bob Feller threw it on April 16, 1940. Which team did Feller pitch for?

Answer: Cleveland Indians

Played at Comiskey Park, the White Sox hosted the Indians with Eddie Smith on the mound. Feller threw five walks and had eight strikeouts in the 1-0 win in Chicago.
9. In the 2000s decade, there were three World Series skunks with the winners not allowing their opponent to win a single game. Two of these skunks were provided by the same team. Which team was this?

Answer: Boston Red Sox

The other teams never saw a World Series in the decade. In 2004, the Red Sox blanked the St. Louis Cardinals four games to none. They repeated the venture against the Rockies in 2007. The only other skunk job in the decade was provided by the White Sox in a crown over the Astros in 2005.
10. The Hall of Fame inducted only one person in 2002. Who was this St. Louis Cardinal?

Answer: Ozzie Smith

Smith took the podium all by himself in 2002. It was the first time that only one person had been inducted since 1993 when Reggie Jackson stood there. Smith started his career with the Padres in 1978. He was a Cardinal from 1982-1996 before he retired. Ozzie was the NL MVP runner-up in 1987 to Andre Dawson of the Cubs in a very close balloting.
