Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

The Birmingham Americans were the champions of the WFL's only completed season, in 1974, yet still went bust, and were replaced by the Birmingham Vulcans for the 1975 season.

The Chicago Winds were the second attempt at establishing a franchise in the Windy City, the Chicago Fire having folded with one game remaining in the 1974 season.

The Detroit Wheels played home games at the stadium of Eastern Michigan University, and folded after 14 games of the 1974 season.

The Florida Blazers were based in Orlando for the 1974 season, and made it all the way to the World Bowl (losing to Birmingham). Despite this success, they relocated to Texas in 1975, becoming the San Antonio Wings.

The Hawaiians were based in Honolulu and were one of the few teams to remain in existence throughout the WFL's short history.

The Shreveport Steamer began life as the Houston Texans before relocating to Louisiana halfway through the 1974 season. They played home games at State Fair Stadium, home of the Independence Bowl college game.

The Jacksonville Sharks played home games at the Gator Bowl, but folded after just 14 games in 1974. A new franchise, the Express, began play in the north Florida city in 1975.

The Memphis Southmen were originally going to be called the Toronto Northmen before Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau announced that no US-based football league would be allowed to go head-to-head with the Canadian Football League. The Southmen nickname was unpopular with Memphis fans, so a new name, Grizzlies, was adopted for the 1975 season.

The New York Stars played home games at Downing Stadium on Randall's Island, but only lasted 13 games in the Big Apple before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, where they would later be renamed the Hornets.

The Philadelphia Bell lasted as a franchise throughout the WFL's short history, and played at JFK Stadium in 1974 before moving across town to Franklin Field the following year.

The Portland Storm played at Civic Stadium in the Oregon city, but were replaced by a new franchise, the Portland Thunder in 1975.

The Southern California Sun were based in Anaheim, Orange County, sharing a stadium with baseball's California Angels. They existed as a franchise throughout the short history of the WFL.
