The second quarter was the only time that the Chiefs scored, one seven-yard TD pass from Len Dawson, and a 31-yard field goal by Mike Mercer. The Chiefs mustered only four first downs on the ground. The Packers' QB Bart Starr was the MVP of the game.

Answer: Baltimore Colts

Although Namath was the MVP, the Jets' defense shutdown the Colts' offense when it counted, allowing only one touchdown in the fourth quarter. The Jets controlled the ball for 36:10 compared to the Colts having it 23:50.

With their third trip in four seasons, the Vikings lost all three at the hands of the Dolphins, Steelers, and then the Raiders in Super Bowl XI 32-14. Bud Grant had the helm of the Vikings throughout them all. In the 32-14 loss, Raider Fred Biletnikoff was the MVP although he didn't score. Running back Pete Banaszak had two rushing touchdowns.

As for the Vikings, they scored two touchdowns from the air, one by Fran Tarkenton and one from Bob Lee. The Raiders out-rushed the Vikings, 266-71 yards.

Answer: Los Angeles Rams

The Steelers capped off their 1970s decade by defeating the Rams 31-19. Steeler QB Terry Bradshaw won his second consecutive MVP. Pittsburgh threw the ball up 21 times with 14 completions for 309 yards passing. Ironically, the Rams were only penalized twice, while the Steelers took six flags for 65 yards.

In addition, Bradshaw threw three interceptions. The time of possession was only 31 seconds in favor of the Rams.

Answer: Denver Broncos

Montana was the MVP, and led the 49ers to a 27-3 halftime lead. The Broncos rushed for only 64 yards while passing for 103. The 49ers aired it out for 317 yards. Denver also fumbled three times in the game. It was San Francisco's fourth Super Bowl victory, winning XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV.

Answer: Buffalo Bills

Coach Marv Levy took the Bills to a 11-5 record in 1992. It would be the third of four consecutive Super Bowls for the Bills, and unfortunately would lose them all. Against the Cowboys, the Bills didn't even bring their game faces. The Super Bowl MVP, Troy Aikman, threw four touchdown passes, and the Bills watched Emmitt Smith rush for 108 yards.

The Bills turned the ball over a record nine times, and the Cowboys converted those into 35 points of their own. In those four Super Bowl seasons, the Bills would lose to the Giants, Redskins, and Cowboys twice.

Answer: Pittsburgh Steelers

One would never know it by looking at the game statistics, but the Steelers rushed for more yards, passed for more yards, time of possession was in Pittsburgh's favor, had a third down ratio of 9/19 compared to the Cowboys and their 2/10, and the Steelers committed only two penalties in the game.

It all came down to Pittsburgh throwing three interceptions. Cowboy cornerback Larry Brown was voted the MVP.

Answer: Atlanta Falcons

Dan Reeves was at the helm of the Falcons in 1998, and lost only to the 49ers and the Jets in the season. Chris Chandler took the snaps and threw 25 TDs in the season. The Broncos weren't very hospitable, not allowing the Falcons an offensive touchdown until late in the fourth quarter. Tim Dwight gave Atlanta their only highlight, running back a Denver kick for 94 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter also.

Answer: New York Giants

The only points that Baltimore allowed was in the third quarter, while they watched Ron Dixon run back a kickoff for 97 yards to a touchdown. The Ravens dominated the ball, keeping it 34:06 compared to the Giants' possession of 25:54. New York's Kerry Collins threw four interceptions in the game.

Answer: Oakland Raiders

In a game played at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego in January 2003, the Raiders jumped on the board first with a 40-yard field in the first quarter. It would be their only lead of the game. The Raiders rushed for only 19 yards and were penalized for 51 yards in the game.

In a lopsided time of possession, the Bucs had the ball almost 15 minutes more than the Raiders. Tampa Bay's safety Dexter Jackson was voted the game MVP.
