The Pies won their 4th consecutive flag by 30 points, thereby eclipsing Carlton's hat trick some 22 years before. Allan Hopkins, Stan Judkins and Harry Collier shared the Brownlow. Geelong took over Richmond's place for second position.

In a thriller of a Grand Final, Melbourne triumphed by just 4 points. The Brownlow was not introduced until 1924.
