The 1996 Brownlow: he tied with Michael Voss and James Hird, but was ineligible because he had been suspended. In 1994 he was suspended for tripping which cost him the Norwich Rising Star award.

A knee injury tragically cut his career short. He scored 537 goals in 98 games for Essendon from 1949-54.
