When the opening credits were rolling, you could see that Christina M. Kim and Elizabeth Sarnoff were credited for penning this episode of "Lost." For the first five seasons of the show, Kim wrote a total of six episodes while Sarnoff wrote a total of fifteen. Sarnoff has also written episodes for the TV shows, "Deadwood", "Crossing Jordan", and "NYPD Blue." Kim wrote and produced episodes for the TV series, "Ghost Whisperer."

In a flashback, at the beginning of the episode, Jack was seen in Phuket, Thailand and he met a woman named Achara. Jack and Achara would soon enter, into a romance, and Achara revealed that she owned a tattoo parlor. Jack asked Achara if she would give him a tattoo and Achara accepted his offer. This explained the origins of Jack's tattoo that we see on all episodes of "Lost."

Answer: Her religion

Achara explained, to Jack, when he asked for a tattoo that she was not sure if she should give him one since the one he wanted was specific to her religion and Jack was not a member of her religion. However, after giving it some thought, Achara agreed to give Jack the tattoo. She did warn Jack that, due to him having this tattoo, there would be consequences for both of them.

When we first saw scenes of the island, in this episode, Sawyer and Kate were seen, in Alex's canoe, and so was Alex's boyfriend, Karl. Sawyer refused and told her to keep paddling.
