Tom Zarek, the terrorist who had blown up a government building on Sagittaron was selected to represent them. Many of the fleet had felt disenfranchised by the current leadership and thought Zarek would be the one to bring change. After the announcement of his office, he contacted the fleet from the Astral Queen and thanked those who had brought him to power.

When Baltar found out he was to be the delegate to Caprica, he wasn't thrilled. Only until the Six in his head gave him an idea of some of the positive aspects did he change his mind. "Parties full of young women drawn to men of power," she said, alluring him to accept the office.

Answer: Roslin shook his hand and kissed him on the cheeks.

"That was nicely played," Zarek said to Roslin, who knew she had done the right thing. Not only had she not offended Zarek's supporters, she had put herself on the same level as Zarek and the rest of fleet, exuding humility.

Answer: "I can always rip it out of your chest if I need to."

The Six provided a point of interest to the nearly sleeping Gaius when she attracted his attention to the reporter who had been staring at him. She gave up her jealousy over him seeing other women, but knew that she was the only love in his life.

Answer: The election of a vice president

Zarek moved to open nominations for vice president as the civilian body of the fleet would be in chaos if something were to happen to President Roslin. The result was the nomination of Tom Zarek and Roslin's troubles began.

Answer: a silenced pistol

The assassin, Valance, was able to get through security because the pistol was ceramic and because a special false bottom in his briefcase. His interrogation turned over no information even though Kara and Lee threatened him.

Answer: Gaius Baltar

After hearing Baltar's eloquent speech on the wireless, Roslin knew that she was going to thwart Tom Zarek's attempts to become vice president. It was imperative that she do so as Zarek would likely try an assassination attempt on her as soon as he had gotten the office.

Roslin had an unpleasant duty to perform when she asked her friend Wally to step down. He told her that she fit in with the "bear-knuckled back-stabbing politicians".

Galactica had little evidence to prove anything. This fact was even later exploited when Zarek told Laura Roslin that he hadn't killed Valance. He then said, "I wonder who did?"

There are likely two suspects: Zarek, who may have simply lied to the president, or Ellen Tigh, who would have done it to gain Zarek's favor. Throughout the episode, there were several instances in which Zarek and Ellen met and talked about her 'future'. Later, when Ellen was with her husband, we learned that she had gotten her and Saul a suspicious trip to the Rising Star.

Answer: "I figured, 'the devil you know...'"

Roslin was talking about the adage, 'Better the devil you know than the devil you don't." They later expanded their conversation to politics:

Adama: "Politics: as exciting as war, definitely as dangerous."
Roslin: "Though in war, you only get killed once. In politics, it can happen over and over."
Adama: "You're still standing."
Roslin: "So are you."
Adama: "And I can dance."

Answer: He saw another Number Eight model.

As he ran, Helo thought back on all the unusual things that happened because Sharon was a Cylon: her endurance, her knowledge of Cylon movements, the fact that they were still alive. Sharon called out to him desperately, but it was no help. Helo distanced himself from her as quickly as he could.
