Battlestar Galactica- Season 1 Trivia Questions

1. At the site of the crashed Raptor on Kobol was a volatile situation; the Raptor was in flames and its passengers rushed to escape the wreckage. Gaius Baltar was caught behind a wall of fire. What happened that convinced him to escape?

From Quiz
"Battlestar Galactica" 1.13 - "Kobol's...Pt. 2"

Answer: Six convinced him to take her hand.

This event began Baltar's entrancement on Kobol. Six called out to him to take her hand, and he had enough love for her to follow through with it. When he reached the exit, Crashdown broke him out of his trance and the two barely escaped before the Raptor exploded.

2. As a side to Colonial Day, the Quorum of Twelve, the legislative body of the fleet, was in the process of being elected. President Roslin was seriously disturbed by the delegate who was selected to represent Sagittaron. Who had been chosen?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.11 - "Colonial Day"

Answer: Tom Zarek

Tom Zarek, the terrorist who had blown up a government building on Sagittaron was selected to represent them. Many of the fleet had felt disenfranchised by the current leadership and thought Zarek would be the one to bring change. After the announcement of his office, he contacted the fleet from the Astral Queen and thanked those who had brought him to power.

3. One of Galactica's officers woke up to succumb to one of his/her well-known vices. Later, when this officer was talking to Tyrol, Cally, and Socinus, it was clear that he/she was under the influence of alcohol. Who was it?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.03 - "Bastille Day"

Answer: Saul Tigh

Tigh, known for his drunkenness in the past, decided to take a couple drinks that morning. He had previously sectioned off his bottle into 'fingers', a haphazard system of measuring alcohol; it can be said that this is an obvious behavior of an alcoholic. While talking to some of the deck crew, Colonel Tigh said a few unorthodox things. When talking about the fresh water they found on the planet, he said, "Couple of lemons, we could make lemonade," followed by a short chuckle. The deck crew showed signs that they knew he'd had a few.

4. What is the name of the Colonial ship that President Roslin and Commander Adama are forced to order destroyed?

From Quiz "Put Him Out the Airlock"

Answer: Olympic Carrier

During the constant flight from the Cylons (with the Cylons attacking every 33 minutes), the Olympic Carrier disappears, only to reappear several hours later. Fearing the Olympic Carrier may have been infiltrated by Cylons, orders are given that it should not approach. When the ship disregards these orders and nuclear weapons are detected aboard, Roslin and Adama reluctantly give orders that the ship be destroyed.

5. Another game of cards and this time Gaius Baltar was in quite a drunken state. When Kara Thrace walked in, he gave her a look, a couple crude comments, and suggested that she might want to sit next to which person?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.12 - "Kobol's...Pt. 1"

Answer: Lee Adama

The good doctor, in no good mood, was out to make Starbuck look the fool. However, Kara politely declined the offer to play cards and walked away. The tension created in the room made everyone else wonder what exactly had happened between the two.

6. When Starbuck went to talk to Gaius Baltar in his laboratory about being selected to serve on the Quorum of Twelve, he was not very excited. What did he say was "the only thing more boring than blood samples."?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.11 - "Colonial Day"

Answer: politics

When Baltar found out he was to be the delegate to Caprica, he wasn't thrilled. Only until the Six in his head gave him an idea of some of the positive aspects did he change his mind. "Parties full of young women drawn to men of power," she said, alluring him to accept the office.

7. In the observation deck, Billy Keikaya and Anastasia Dualla were on a date. But for Billy there was another motive than some time with Dee. What else was he there for?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.09 - "Tigh Me Up..."

Answer: To pump Dualla for information about Commander Adama

The two shared a romantic moment enhanced by the show-off fly-by the Viper pilots pulled because they knew she was in there. Unfortunately for Billy, Roslin wanted him to gather information on Adama. He gathered that Adama was making off-log calls and acting stranger than usual. Was Adama a Cylon? they pondered.

8. With the help of Lee, Kara tried to walk with crutches; ever since her incident on the red moon, she had been in bed. After she tried, and failed, to walk, what unfortunate circumstance did Doc Cottle say he was inflicting upon her?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.07 - "Six Degrees..."

Answer: He was going to take away her pain meds

Several people tried to get her out of her bed, including Colonel Tigh. When Kara's latest attempt failed, the doc told her, "I'm weaning you off the magic pills." She was unhappy to say the least. She eventually got up to help the Chief figure out the Cylon Raider.

9. Richard Hatch appears in the episode "Bastille Day" as imprisoned terrorist Tom Zarek. What role did Hatch play in the original "Battlestar Galactica"?

From Quiz "Put Him Out the Airlock"

Answer: Apollo

Hatch starred as Captain Apollo, a role taken by Jamie Bamber in the re-imagined series.

10. Commander Adama had to reexamine his plan to take out the Cylon basestar. After querying Gaeta about the Cylon transponders, he went to which pilot to carry out his mission?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.13 - "Kobol's...Pt. 2"

Answer: Boomer

Adama knew that the mission would be high risk since the use of a Colonial Raptor had unforeseen consequences. Boomer, who had been in sickbay from her suicide attempt, was his likely choice. He knew that she would likely accept the mission because of the possibility of death. With its completion, she could once again feel like she had done something right.

11. "Madame President," Zarek said on the Cloud Nine, "if I were to offer you my hand in friendship, would you take it?" "Well, there's only one way to find out," she replied. What was the result of this exchange?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.11 - "Colonial Day"

Answer: Roslin shook his hand and kissed him on the cheeks.

"That was nicely played," Zarek said to Roslin, who knew she had done the right thing. Not only had she not offended Zarek's supporters, she had put herself on the same level as Zarek and the rest of fleet, exuding humility.

12. To get some "serious out of the box thinking" for the attack on the Cylons, Commander Adama enlisted the help of what Galactica officer?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.10 - "The Hand of God"

Answer: Kara Thrace

Kara was brought in on the op to present a different perspective on the attack. Instead of a by-the-book procedure, she offered a way to use the Cylons' patrols against them. Her plan was welcomed by Commander Adama and approved by the president.

13. During Starbuck's interrogation of Leoben, he said that his mission was to conduct sabotage. Perhaps the ultimate act of sabotage would be completed because Leoben said he had planted what on one of the fleet's ships?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.08 - "Flesh and Bone"

Answer: A nuclear weapon

Because Starbuck did not want to entertain his little mind games, she told Leoben that she wasn't going to pass on the news (she believed it a lie). Leoben then said, "Your military training dictates you take it to your masters and let them decide."

14. Baltar called the president for support after he had been accused of treason. He also wanted to hop aboard the Colonial One. When he tried to tell Roslin that Shelly Godfrey was a Cylon, why wasn't she able to receive this information?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.07 - "Six Degrees..."

Answer: Roslin had passed out due to her illness and medication

The effects of the cancer had become more apparent on Roslin and her weakness had become too much while she was talking to Baltar. She passed out, and when Billy called the doctor to the Colonial One, he did it on an open line. The result was that most everyone in the fleet heard the announcement that the president had collapsed. We then saw Doc Cottle scolding the president because she had taken three times the dosage of her medication. When Roslin wanted a shot (presumably of adrenaline) to stand up confidently in front of the people, she started to roll up her sleeve. "It's not that kind of shot," Cottle remarked, and Roslin gave him a hesitant look.

15. After discussing that staying in the bunker on Caprica won't help get them off the planet, Helo and Sharon decided to pack up some food and supplies and move on. This plan is foiled, though, when what happened?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.05 - "You Can't Go..."

Answer: Cylon centurions attacked and Sharon wound up missing.

Helo certainly couldn't have picked a worse time to use the toaster (which is ironically a nickname of the Cylons). When his breakfast popped up, and the centurions saw Sharon, the shooting began. Helo took on the centurions only to pass out. When he awoke, he looked for Sharon in the bunker, but she was nowhere to be found.

16. Which Cylon model acts as a suicide bomber aboard the Galactica?

From Quiz "Put Him Out the Airlock"

Answer: Aaron Doral (Number Five)

It is this incident that prompts Roslin to publicly reveal to the Fleet that Cylons can now mimic humans, a fact that had been kept secret for fear of spreading panic and suspicion.

17. On Caprica, Helo and Sharon argued over what exactly she could feel. Sharon said she had feelings (such as the capability to feel fear). Helo told her that she had 'software'. After their argument, what did Sharon tell Helo?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.13 - "Kobol's...Pt. 2"

Answer: she was pregnant

It was only after Helo told the Cylon that he didn't love her that she was desperate enough to win his heart once again. It was difficult to tell what Karl Agathon was thinking at that time, but we later see that his feelings for Sharon are rekindled.

18. Boomer and Crashdown were sent out on a mission to find supplies in their little Raptor. After nearly jumping into a planet's atmosphere, what did they discover about it?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.12 - "Kobol's...Pt. 1"

Answer: It was habitable.

The two had indeed found Kobol, the birthplace of humanity. Crashdown believed that it would be the answer to all their problems, that they could live on the planet. When he asked if it was Earth, Sharon said, "No, it's not Earth. It's more important than that."

19. A single Cylon Raider appeared suddenly with no Commander Adama aboard. Tigh took command for the short period of time that his commanding officer was absent. When Apollo wounded the Raider, it began to act strangely. What was it doing?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.09 - "Tigh Me Up..."

Answer: Attempting to jump away, but only going a limited distance.

The Raider, hit by Apollo's shot, jumped erratically, but never got very far from the fleet. After each encounter, the Vipers would close in and barely miss as the Raider would jump again. Tigh made the decision that they would gain intelligence on the fighter by engaging all their sensors on it.

20. On Caprica, Helo and Sharon followed a Colonial signal back to the mostly intact structures of the city. Their search brought them to a small restaurant and the source of the signal. What else did they find in the restaurant?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.04 - "Act of Contrition"

Answer: a small bunker filled with numerous supplies

The signal brought Sharon to a bookcase, which she tossed over. (An interesting side note: the observant watcher will see that the books on this shelf do have corners, something that Colonial books don't have. A small inconsistency.) They discovered a bomb shelter complete with food, water, medical supplies, and a Colonial distress beacon with an enormous power supply of batteries.

21. While Boomer and Tyrol were arguing over whether or not Sharon might be accused of being a Cylon, there was an explosion aboard Galactica. Where did the explosion take place?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.02 - "Water"

Answer: the water tanks

It seemed that Sharon had placed several explosives in the water tanks in order to deprive Galactica of their precious water. When investigating the tanks, Tyrol tried to play down the fact that they had been destroyed by explosives. He was trying to protect Sharon, and in the end, no one found out about her involvement. The master at arms believed they would likely never know who had sabotaged the ship.

22. Gaius Baltar became quite nervous when he heard the name of one Dr. Amorak who had demanded to see President Roslin. Evidently, Amorak was an associate of his at the Ministry of Defense. So why was Baltar so worried?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.01 - "33"

Answer: Dr. Amorak could have possibly exposed Baltar as the one who let the Cylons into the Defense mainframe.

When he heard the name, he popped out of his seat and eagerly forced himself into the conversation going on between Billy and Roslin. He asked to personally handle Dr. Amorak's request. The Six in his head antagonized him during the conversation, yet he was somehow able to keep his cool. Later in the show, we found out that Dr. Amorak happened to be aboard the Olympic Carrier, a twist of fate that perhaps saved Baltar's life. The Six, who had been attempting to make him see God, forced him to repent for his sins, which he reluctantly does. The result is a seemingly supernatural force guiding Gaius to safety and the Olympic Carrier is ordered destroyed by the president.

23. Who orders a Cylon copy to be put out the airlock of one of the fleet's ships?

From Quiz "Put Him Out the Airlock"

Answer: President Roslin

The Cylon, a copy of the Leoben Conoy Cylon which Commander Adama encountered in the mini-series, is interrogated by Starbuck to little avail. When Roslin arrives the Cylon makes a number of claims and then grabs her, whispering urgently in her ear that Adama is a Cylon. Realising that he will only tell further lies and sow discord, Roslin orders the Cylon put out of the airlock, setting a precedent for future captured Cylons. However, the seeds of suspicion about Adama have been successfully planted in Roslin's mind.

24. After Starbuck had landed on Caprica, where did she go to find the Arrow of Apollo?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.13 - "Kobol's...Pt. 2"

Answer: a museum

The Arrow of Apollo was located at the Delphi Museum of the Colonies in a display case. When Starbuck tried to secure the arrow, a Number Six appeared and the two scuffled. Starbuck eventually killed the Cylon when she dug a knife into it after tackling it over a ledge.

25. While looking at the topography of the planet they had found, Laura Roslin had a vision. What did she see?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.12 - "Kobol's...Pt. 1"

Answer: a forum and opera house

The forum and opera house were two of the main features of the City of the Gods on Kobol. Laura Roslin saw the inhabited city and was confused when she later returned to the picture and it was only ruins. Elosha showed her a sketch of what they thought the city might have looked like to a astounded Roslin.

26. On Caprica, Sharon ran as quickly as she could to get back to Helo. When she arrived, she told him "We have to travel fast, even faster than before." Where had she been before she decided to flee with Helo?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.08 - "Flesh and Bone"

Answer: Meeting with other Cylons

Sharon met with a Number Five and Number Six and had informed them that their plan was working, but the Number Six wasn't so confident; Helo hadn't directly told Sharon that he loved her. The two Cylons told her that they were setting up a cabin for them to live in, full of supplies, and if that didn't work out, Sharon was to kill him. Remembering all they had been through, she ran quickly back to Helo and told him that they had to get moving, and do it fast.

27. In an attempt to change his own fortunes, Gaius Baltar confronted Felix Gaeta, the man responsible for sharpening the image in the evidence that Shelly Godfrey had presented. It was an awkward moment, for Baltar confronted him where?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.07 - "Six Degrees..."

Answer: In the bathroom

Sitting on the toilet, Gaeta was a little surprised when Gaius began talking with him from the next stall. Baltar pleaded for him to look at the evidence carefully, for he knew it was a fake. Later, Shelly Godfrey entered the restroom and Gaius was quick to corner her in a stall. It did him no good, though, as she refused to acknowledge anything.

28. Arguments over whether to deploy the CAP (the Combat Air Patrol) to look for Starbuck grew heated when it was learned that the fleet would be defenseless against a Cylon attack. Who supported Commander Adama in his deployment of the CAP?

From Quiz "Battlestar Galactica" 1.05 - "You Can't Go..."

Answer: Lee Adama

In fact, Lee was the very person who suggested deploying the CAP in the first place, something he later admitted to the president. Roslin was adamantly against its deployment and she even went aboard the Galactica to reprimand the Adamas. Colonel Tigh and Felix Gaeta also protested, though Tigh's protests were direct while Gaeta's were slight and he showed his disapproval through uneasy glares. The Colonel's protests even got him relieved.
