Sawyer had just shot a polar bear with a gun he took from the marshal. Kate says, "You think this is the thing that killed the pilot?" Charlie replies, "No, this is the teeny-tiny version." The thing that killed the pilot was the huge "monster" in the jungle.

He calls Locke this since Locke is well-known as the hunter of the island. Jack, Kate, Charlie, and Locke are going to the caves that Jack found to get water.

Charlie was in the band Driveshaft. In the first episode, Kate says that Charlie looks familiar. He says, "I think I know how," and he sings the line "You all everybody" and tells her he was in Driveshaft. We see his experience in Charlie's first flashback episode: "The Moth", and it's mentioned in his second flashback episode: "Homecoming".

This takes place at the end of episode 11 - "All the Best Cowboys have Daddy Issues". Charlie and Claire were taken by Ethan, and a search party was sent out to look for them. Jack and Kate found Charlie hanging from a tree, almost dead. Jack saved him, though, and they brought him back to camp. Charlie's in a trance, and the first time he speaks is when he says the above quote.

Then he says, "Claire... they only wanted Claire."

Jack, Kate, and Charlie went into the plane to find the transmitter in hopes of contacting someone. In the plane, a body falls out of the bathroom and everyone is startled. Jack says to Kate, "You okay?" She replies, "Yeah, you?" "Yeah," Jack says. They forget about Charlie, and he says "I'm fine, Charlie's fine, thanks."

They had just stumbled upon a transmission that was spoken in French. Charlie thinks that the French are coming to rescue them, but the transmission has been playing for 16 years. It was recorded by Danielle when she was shipwrecked on the island.

Charlie snuck away from Jack, Kate, and Locke for some of his drugs. On the way, he accidentally stepped on a beehive. Jack, Kate, and Locke find him, and the dialogue above takes place.
