Season 2, "Live Together, Die Alone". Desmond and Penny are madly in love, but her father, Charles Widmore, is keeping them apart. When Desmond got out of military prison, Charles Widmore was there to pick him up. Desmond is not happy to see him, as Widmore has never liked Desmond and did not give him permission to marry Penny. Widmore shows Desmond a box full of letters, letters Desmond sent to Penny while in prison that Widmore had intercepted.

He also offers him money to stay away from his daughter.

It is not shown whether or not he took the money, but it has been established since then that he did not. Desmond does stay away from Penny for a while though, that is until she finds him. Desmond is preparing to go on a boat race around the world, run Charles Widmore himself, and Desmond intends to win it to get his honor back.

However, he becomes shipwrecked on the island that he calls home for the next three years.

Answer: Sawyer

Who would have thought that Sawyer considers Jack his friend? This quote is from season two, episode "?". Anna Lucia and Libby have just been shot and killed by Michael, but none of the survivors are aware it was Michael who did it. In a previous episode, Anna Lucia and Sawyer had sex, which was all a part of Anna Lucia's plan to steal Sawyer's gun.

This is the same gun that is used to kill her. Although he and Anna were not exactly close, Sawyer, along with everybody else is obviously shaken by these horrific deaths.

He also, no doubt, feels somewhat responsible for her death. If she hadn't gotten his gun she would still be alive. He confides in Jack, telling him he slept with Anna and that is how she got his gun. He says he never even knew her last name. Jack asks him why he is telling him this, and this is when Sawyer says, "Cuz' you're about the closest thing I got to a friend, Doc. Because she's gone."

Sawyer and Jack are engaged in a game of poker with the stakes raised: All of the medicine Sawyer stole from the hatch. Sawyer calls him with the aspirin and raises him a bottle of Amoxicillin. The quote comes when Jack asks him if he even knows what Amoxicillin is. Sawyer, it seems, has finally met his match. Jack wins back all the medicine as a humiliated Sawyer sits in disbelief. To make it worse, Kate and others witness his humiliating defeat. Sawyer asks why he didn't ask for the guns as stakes (which Sawyer also stole from the hatch) and Jack says, "When I need the guns, I'll get the guns." The poker scenes were very funny scenes from an otherwise serious season two episode titled "Lockdown".

Season three, "Greatest Hits". For the first time in a long time, all is good for the survivors. Jack, Sawyer, and Kate have all returned safely from the others, Sun and Jin are expecting a baby, and there is even hope for a potential rescue. Just when things are starting to get back to normal for them, they get word that the others are coming to kidnap the pregnant women and kill anybody who gets in the way. Juliet was sent there by Ben as a spy to find out who the pregnant women are, but she couldn't go through with it.

She switches sides and reveals everything to Jack. Everyone is in distress over the impending attack, but Jack has a plan. "Juliet is going to mark the tents with the white rocks just like she was told to. But there's not going to be any pregnant women inside, there's going to be plenty of what we just used on that tree." Their plan to blow up the others hits a bump in the road when Jin, Sayid, and Bernard, the ones who stayed behind to shoot the dynamite, are captured.

Season one, "Exodus: Part Two". In the middle of a heated debate between Jack, Kate, and Locke over who will carry the backpacks full of dynamite, Hurley chimes in with this hilarious remark. The four are transporting the dynamite from the black rock to the hatch in order to blow it open.

After witnessing Arzt being blown to bits, they realize just how dangerous carrying it back will be. There are two packs full of it, and for some reason, Jack, Locke, and Kate all want to carry one. Jack obviously objects to Kate carrying one, but when they can't settle their dispute they draw sticks.

It is decided that Kate and Locke will each carry a pack, but Jack switches Kate's pack with his own when no one is looking. Jack would rather risk his own life than risk Kate's, who lets face it; everyone knows he is madly in love with. Sneaky Jack.

Season three, "Tricia Tanaka Is Dead". Sawyer and Jin are supposed to be helping Hurley get the Dharma van he found in the jungle running, but instead the two are sitting around drinking old beer while Sawyer gives Jin an English lesson. Sawyer also teaches Jin to say car, beer, and International House of Pancakes, which he models by pointing at Hurley.

Answer: Locke

This quote comes from season one "Do no Harm". Locke screams this while banging on the hatch door. He is in feeling very defeated and is losing his faith because he just caused Boone's death. He is about to give up hope of ever getting inside the hatch when a light comes shining through the door and his hope is restored. This was a very powerful and emotional scene.

This is from the season 4 finale titled "There's No Place like Home". The Oceanic Six are getting ready to leave Penny's boat and Jack asks Frank how long it will until they hit land.(The Oceanic Six are using a life raft and wood as paddles) "If the wind is not too brutal, eight, nine hours", Frank replies, "Just long enough to give you a nice convincing sunburn." It was decided that the Oceanic Six will lie about everything that happened to them since they crashed in order to protect everyone who was left behind on the island (Sawyer, Juliette, Locke, ect.).

This is from season three "Every Man for Himself". Kate is becoming increasingly frustrated with Sawyer, who will not tell Kate what the others did to him while he was separated from her. Sawyer can't tell Kate that there was a pace maker put inside of him that could blow up his heart.

The others threatened Sawyer that if he tells her then they will put one in her, too. The others implanted one in his heart so he would start behaving and stop trying to escape. At the end of the episode, though, we learn that they never put a pace maker inside of him in the first place, that the only thing they put inside him was "self-doubt". Ben told him that "the only way to get a con man's respect is to con him."

Answer: Juliet

This is from season three "One of Us". This quote comes from one of Juliet's flashbacks, in which she has just discovered Ben has a tumor on his spine. She becomes furious with Ben, claiming that he lied to her when he told her that he cured her sister's cancer, with whom she is allowed no contact with.

In fact, she has not seen her sister for three years, which is how long Ben has kept her on the island. To prove that he is not lying to her, Ben takes her to the Flame Station, where he shows Juliet a recent video of her sister and her nephew at a playground. Before she left for the island Juliet, who is a fertility doctor, fulfilled her sister's dream when she found a way to impregnate her even though her reproductive organs had been damaged by chemotherapy.
